Ford use to put a fuse-able link at the battery end of the cable that feeds the fuse box, these were replaced with maxi fuses, again mounted near the battery, sometimes in a plastic box. If everything has gone off that sounds like the problem.

SOURCE: 1993 Isuzu Bighorn starting problems

The breakdown service in Nz says it is a problem with the auto transmission being a switch which is not acknowledging it is fully engaged in park, therefore, wont start. I have similar problem, he says to start it in Neutral when this happens. Not sure if this will work for you, but worth a try.

When turning the ignition on to start the truck nothing happens, Im not getting power to the starter I think?

does any dash or head lights come on
when switch is turned on
if so you have enough power to pull starter relay in you should hear clicking (listen carefully)

if not you have a dead or disconnected battery

if you hear clicking sound but no starter (cranking) you might have a low charge on your battery or some component in starter ckt is defective you'll need to have that checked/repaired by a qualifyed mechanic

Sounds like something is shorting out but first I would not trust that the battery is good . So try unhooking the battery after its been charged and then hooking it up the next morning to see if it will start your truck and if it works the battery is good and need to find the short but if it is drained and dont start truck its a bad battery.

1998 ranger the battery loses all of its charge some nights.other mornings the truck starts fine.the battery has been replaced.the mechanic is finding it hard to figure out the problem because it starts...

Intermittent problems can be a real pain. When you park truck and shut off, check if you hear anything like a fan motor running, clicking noise etc. Also check if glove box light (if equipped) is actually off. Check that brake lights are not staying on which may be a simple brake switch adjustment.
