A code P0301 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty spark plug or wire Faulty coil (pack) Faulty oxygen sensor(s) Faulty fuel injector Burned exhaust valve Faulty catalytic converter(s) Running out of fuel Poor compression Defective computer
Possible Solutions: if there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.
sounds like your canister vent valve is blocked or the charcoal canister is flooded with fuel. if you drive alot of dirt roads you can clog this vent valve causing backpressure in the tank. you may have to go to a reputable service shop so they can test the evaporative emissions system and get an accurate diagnosis.
Have your Alternator output chk'd. Output to the battery should be between 13.6 and 14.2 volts This too is why your bat warning light is on. Did the cap tightening work? Turn your key on and off 3 times and see if that cancels the dash warn lamps. but have your alt and bat cked regardless. Most auto parts stores will ck both for free.Good Luck, Ned
If the cap is tight then it will have to be diagnosed further. If the cap was loose then tighten it and clear the codes. It will go off on it's own but it will take a while
If you brought your car to Honda for service, they probably forgot to reset the maintenance reminder. If you took it to another shop, they probably did not know how to reset it. Anyway, the reset procedure is:
Put your key in the ignition Turn the key to the II position for a couple of seconds Then turn the key to the off position Now push and hold in the odometer reset button While still holding the odometer reset button, turn the key back to the II position Hold for I think 10 seconds or so and your maintenance reminder light should reset it self.
