Electronic Throttle Control

My 2003 Dodge Ram 5.7L Hemi has been experiencing problems with the Electronic Throttle Control or ETC. Error codes displayed are 2106 and 2108. The vehicle loses power at accelerator. The transmission acts like it is in neutral but there is no increase in RPM. This happens suddenly while driving at any speed. Usually after using 4-WD. The computer has been flashed before and the problem subsided for almost a year each time. Can you help? I have a 2005 1500 Ram Hemi 5.7 Just got back from pulling my fishing boat. The truck sat over night. I got in to go out of state. The ETC light started flashing when I put my foot on the peddle. nothing happened. The truck just sat there in Idle. No acceleration at all. Whats with that ? never happened before. I keep the truck in top notch condtion. it has 126,ooo miles. Any remedies ?

I had same problem on mine. The wire harness under the throttle body cover rubbed and was cut in two. If you remove the cover and unplug the etc you can feed the harness under the plug wires to inspect them.very common problem on this vehicle.

Here are your dash warning lights. The lightning bolt is Electronic Throttle Control, and you can't drive without that. Not sure that your sail and sun is unless it is the Cold Ambient Derate Mode Indicator
You need a local auto electrician. you can't guess stuff like this, it needs a pro grade scan tool computer.

Red lightning bolt on 2008 Dodge Ram 5.7 hemi truck won't start, drove it to the vets came out and nothing...

The lightning bolt on the dash means that there is a problem with the electronic throttle control system in your vehicle. Get a code reader and scan the engine for any logged codes. The light may be on for a glitch and the electronic throttle control system needs to be reset.

To reset the Dodge Ram throttle position sensor(TPS), You need to turn on the ignition without Your foot on the brake, so the engine doesn't start. Then press the accelerator on the floor for 15 seconds. Release the accelerator. Then turn the car off and start the engine and drive.

2006 dodge RAM 1500 with a hemi....I have a light with two vertical red lines and a lightning bolt between them...truck won't so anything...a few times it tried to start now nothing

I think this means your electronic throttle control (ETC) has a problem. The ETC takes the signal from your accelerator pedal to control the throttle plate in the throttle body. See this link:

The electronic throttle control light is flashing in my 2004 1500 5.7 Hemi truck, won't accelerate but does turn on, where should i start?

The 1st thing that MUST be done is to have the electronic engine control system computer (called the "PCM") scanned for fault codes, this gives you the starting point for diagnosis od why the warning/fault light is on. You can get the scan for fault codes done for free at any Autozone or similar discount auto parts store in your area. Aamco Transmission does the scan for free as well.

I had the same problem with my, 03, hemi. I did not wait 15 min. turn off and back on was all that was needed to reset, "red flashing light lower right hand ". though another 8 or 9 on off's, Engin Light also goes off, untill next time. All i did was pulled off my Air Intake box and hose, so i could get to butterfly on throttle bodie, sprayed carb cleaner in there. and it was very dirty. after put back togather, give it a few.... mine did not start right up, when it did idle real ruff even died few times...Once the computer re adjusted ran like it did when i bought it....that was 2 weeks ago, still no eng light, no flashing red ones either.

My Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Light 5.7L\r\ncomes on, what's the problem

I have the same problem. 2004 ram Quad cab with 5.7 hemi. Dealer has replaced throttle position sensor twice, computer once and rebuilt wiring harness twice. Now they say I should trade it in because they don't know how to fix it. It only has 64,000 miles on it. Still under powertrain warranty. The only solution I see is to find a good NON CHRYSLER mechanic and never buy a Dodge again.

Electronic Throttle Control

DTC P2106 Throttle actuator control system-forced limited power DETECTION CONDITION

• This is a continuous monitor (CCM). • The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in the first drive cycle. • PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition. • FREEZE FRAME DATA is available. • The DTC is stored in the PCM memory. POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Throttle actuator malfunction • Connector or terminal malfunction • Open circuit in wiring harness between throttle body terminal A and PCM terminal 1B • Short to power supply in wiring harness between throttle body terminal A and PCM terminal 1B • Short to GND in wiring harness between throttle body terminal A and PCM terminal 1B • Open circuit in wiring harness between throttle body terminal B and PCM terminal 1C • Short to power supply in wiring harness between throttle body terminal B and PCM terminal 1C • Short to GND in wiring harness between throttle body terminal B and PCM terminal 1C • PCM malfunction

Electronic Throttle Control light

I took my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi to a mechanic that works from a garage at his home, recommended by a friend of mine. He removed and cleaned the throttle body and sensor(s?), then reinstalled them, and then disconnected both battery cables and held them together for 2 minutes so that the engine controller could reboot with the factory default settings, then reconnected them. I had bought a can of throttle body cleaner on my way over to his house for about $3.00. He charged me $40.00 for the job. This was done mid-February, about 10 weeks and 2500 miles ago. So far, the problem Has Not happened again, the truck has been running great!
