Fuel gauge doesn't work.

My 2007 Ford Edge fuel gauge just stopped working. I checked what fuses I thought were bad and they're all good. It just happened after I hooked a trailer to tow and I had many problems when I used the plug to provide power to the trailer. I don't know if fuses are the problem or the sending unit from the fuel tank. Does anyone have any ideas?

Disconnect the wires from the sending unit. Using an ohmeter, measure the resistance of the internal coil. If there's a good continuity (1 to 1.5 kilo ohms) chances are, the wires are pulled. If resistance is more than 1.5 kilo ohms, replace the sending unit.

Hi, I have a chrysler sebring 2007 2.4L Sedan. My fuel gauge always shows empty (light on too) and my engine light is on as well..

Pull the wire off fuel tank to the sender unit earth it out with ignition on.The fuel gauge should go to full slow even motion if it does replace unit in petrol tank.If it doest move you need new fuel gauge. Also before any of this i sumise you have checked fuse

96 Mercury cougar gas gauge won't work

Cathy, 1996 Mercury cougar gas gauge not working. Simplest thing to check first is your fuel gage fuse, make sure all fuses are good. The ground wire could be corroded/damaged, sending unit in tank faulty, fuel level gauge in cluster faulty. All things can be tested by a good Tech.,diagnosed and estimate for repair.

My fuel gage is reading full at all times and the radio will not come on is this a fuse issue or two different issues?

You definitely have two different issues as the fuel gauge and radio are on different circuits. The radio could be a blown fuse, which would require finding a short circuit. The fuel gauge could be as simple as a bad connection at the sending unit or a lost ground on the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel gauge at the tank and with a twelve volt test light well grounded probe the harness terminals with the key on (engine off). The fuel gauge should move when the sending unit wire is probed, and the test light should light dimly. Other terminals are a ground for the sending unit, a ground for the fuel pump, and power for the fuel pump. If the gauge moves when the sending unit wire is probed the problem is either the sending unit or a bad harness connection. If the gauge doesn't move during the probe there is a wiring problem (open circuit) or a bad dash gauge. Hope this helps.
