If it is the one with the mercedes transmission, chyrsler calls NAG1,you brake switch is more than likely bad.It does more than show the lights. Also if you can acess shifter area stick and pencil easer end ,below shifter at base where shift points are wrote. And press a little level to move shifter.

Follow throttle valve cable to linkage above shifter cable and linkage. Probably slightly seized and hanging up, causing it to stay in lower gear too long. Hard to see, might have to remove battery and battery tray to get at it good. It has to move freely, and it will usually seize up unless lubed regularly. Should be able to move it easily back and forth by hand. Spray it good with WD-40 or whatever to loosen it up, then coat with white lithium spray grease as well. P.S. do not remove throttle valve linkage (top one) to clean or lube it, otherwise you'll be pulling tranny apart to fix it.

SOURCE: dodge magnum gear shift

I had the same problem. The interlock was not the problem. I had the shifter replaced (at my own expense because drive train warranty would not cover). After examining the old shifter discovered source of problem is a plastic cam on the front of ths shifter. A tiny PLASTIC ear which connects to a small spring had broken off. I repaired this by putting in a small screw where the ear had been. Incidentally, my tow truck driver had also seen the same problem on several Chrysler 300s. In my estimation this is a poor design on Chrysler's part.

2005 Dodge SXT. It won't shift up to the higher gears, it is not the turbo.

The turbo only crams more air into the cylinders for a bigger bang.

You need an auto electrician with a professional grade scan tool computer. It can read DTC trouble codes and historical data, but they are also bi-directional and can instruct transmission solenoids to operate and verify that they did. It sounds like you are in Limp Mode.

What will make my 05 Dodge Magnum shift the first to second then go into third and it hit reverse

There could be several reasons why your 2005 Dodge Magnum is experiencing problems with shifting from second to third gear and then suddenly hitting reverse, including:
  1. Transmission Fluid Level: Low transmission fluid level can cause erratic shifting, slipping, or stalling in your vehicle. Make sure to check your transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
  2. Shift Solenoid: A faulty shift solenoid can cause problems with shifting in your transmission. The solenoids control the flow of transmission fluid through the valve body, which controls the shifting of gears. If the shift solenoid is failing or has failed, it can cause the transmission to slip, shift erratically, or get stuck in a gear.
  3. Transmission Pump: The transmission pump is responsible for pumping transmission fluid through the transmission and to the torque converter. If the pump is failing, it may not be able to pump fluid properly, leading to problems with shifting and slippage.
  4. Valve Body: The valve body controls the flow of transmission fluid through the transmission and directs the shifting of gears. If the valve body is failing, it can cause the transmission to shift erratically or get stuck in a gear.
  5. Transmission Control Module (TCM): The TCM is responsible for controlling the transmission's shifting and overall performance. If the TCM is failing, it can cause the transmission to shift erratically or get stuck in a gear.
It's best to have a qualified mechanic diagnose and repair the issue as they will have the necessary tools and expertise to properly diagnose and fix the issue.

Dodge magnum transmission won't shift gears

This is what you should do.... PRAY that it is low on fluid. If not, then there are a few questions that I need to ask

a. When you Shift, does the handle go to each gear?
b. Can you feel the Detent on each gear?
c. If the Cable Broke... Easy Fix
d. If your car goes into each gear but does not move... MONEY $$$

To correctly answer your question, I need more information.. Is it not shifting gear when moving or Won't allow you to select gears?

I have a 2005 magnum front passenger window won't come down all other windows work properly I replaced the motor and it rolled up and stayed there won't come down I Cleand the connection nothi

Did you try direct 12vdc power to motor wires ? Reverse polarity should change direction of motor, then you'll know it's switch related or whatever. Did old motor do same? The switch reverses polarity, or is supposed to. If a motor goes in one direction, when wired backward ( reverse polarity) it should go opposite direction. That tells you motor is fine.

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300, As I shifted the car from park to reverse I heard and felt a pop in the gear shift. The gear shift moves but the car is stuck in low.

Go to the Prindle switch where the cable meets the transmission and check if it has not unhooked. Move the shifter all the way to the Park position and adjust/tighten.

I have a 2005 dodge magnum sxt that will not shift from park.it's lock in the park position.how do I fix this problem.

If this vehicle was equiped with the brake safety system, you have to have the brake depressed to change gears, then you will need to start by looking to see if somehow the brake sensor came loose. I assume this has a console shifter, remove enough of the console that you can visually see if the actuator is actually moving up when you pull the shift release in to move the shifter. If this is working and there is nothing under the vehicle in teh way of the shifting arm the transmission needs to be serviced.
