The car was fine yesterday this morning I started the car heard a funny sound the car died and will not start up 2004 chevy aveo i have the same problem right now. i took it to autozone because the ck engine lite was on and they said it was the map sensor so i replaced it and now it just turns over but won't start.
Suggest look under the hood for any wires or connectors you might have bumped loose while repairing the MAP sensor.
Check to see that you are getting a spark to the plugs.
Use care because you are dealing with high voltage and could get zapped.
If still same problem suggest obtain a good Volt/Ohm meter and trace-out your circuits to find the problem.
Shop manual with wiring diagrams is a must have for this.
Sometimes they are available online for free as a PDF file.
Be safe when working with electrical parts.
SOURCE: I drive a 2005 Chevy CObalt SS-S and it won't start.
starter could be bad or battery could be bad, live in cold weather conditions or warm humid conditions?
SOURCE: 2002 chevy malibu won't start
Does the starter make any noise or click when you turn the key to start? If it does not, chk. battery could be bad, and battery cables could be loose or corroded. If there good and clean and battery is good try tapping starter see if it will turn and start if it does or still clicks starter bad. It could be ignition switch if it does nothing at all, but if it clicks most likely its starter.

I also had the same problem, But the problem lies in the switch the actual hold switch on my aveo there is a side entry way you can pop off the one on the left will give you access to the switch. what could of happen is theres is condensation in inside the switch. then when it gets cold it freezes causing the switch to malfunction. This could happen either by spilling something on the switch or using a cleaning solvent like armorall, YOU MUST BE CAREFULL WITH ANYTHING LIQUID NEAR THE HOLD SWITCH. Also the car going from warm when you drive then cold when you park it at night. My car was in warranty and remind you I came up with is the dealership had no idea what was wrong. they reseted the computer it worked for a week then was happening again. I have knoweldge in switches/wiring so i decided to check pot the switch and open it up and sure enough there was condensation took it to dealer told them to try a new switch works perfect and going on 5 months with out problems. Replacing the switch can solve pretty much every problem that is stated here i think. Also take a look at the wiring and connections for older aveos
SOURCE: Engine will die
There is a Communication problem between the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and the Engine control module. That is the bad news and is why it's shutting down the engine.
The good news is i believe there is a TSB recall on the 2004 - 2007 chevy aveo for the P0700 problem so it should be covered under warranty.
Believe the TSB# 05-06-01-030D
Good luck and hope this helps and hope it's not a bad ECM. Check the wire harness to the ECM and TCM, look for broken wire or the harness it self gone apart.
