SOURCE: Tail/brake light bulb replacement 2004 Olds Alero
In the trunk, in the rear corners, you'll see some plastic "caps" with tabs on them, similar to wing nuts. Remove those, and the taillight comes right off the back of the car. That will allow you to replace the bulbs.

u can have the light scanned by autozone free of charge. Also in new york state the anti lock system is not part of inspection and can not be a failable issue. Ofcourse your state may be differant. Also the abs light will not turn on for brake pads.. Most common on the olds alero is a bad wheel bearing. The abs sensor is built into all the wheel bearings. The code that u can get out of the car will even tell you what wheel it is that is causing he light to come on. Unless ofcourse its not a wheel bearing and its a internal abs system issue. Let me know what the code is and I will try to get you a pinpoint place to look....

It sounds more like it's the wheel speed sensor that is part of the hub/bearing assembly. Since you have had the hub replaced many times I would look for the electrical connectors for the wheel speed sensor as the problem. An easy no cost fix.
BTW...GM has issued a service bulletin for the hub/bearing kit that states NOT to use the old style nut that comes in some kits as it will cause premature bearing failure due to it's design and the high torque requirements. The correct shaft spindle nut part number to use is p/n 10289657 and is torqued to 178 nm. The GM bulletin number is 03-04-18-001.

Anti-Lock and Trac Off lights are lit on my 1999 Alero, as well. They usually come on after about 5 minutes of driving, but are not always on when I start the car.
