99 Chevy Astro has no heat and no AC, temp gauge inside never rises despite how far you drive. Only blows cold air. Thermostat is functioning properly, replaced all the vacuum lines and flushed the radiator twice. Coolant levels are fine. What else could it be aside from the heater core? I did pull the heater core and it looks fine, no clogs. We have been told it could be the heater core, the heater control valve... What is going on here?

It is located where the big hose comming out of your radiator connects to top of engine. Remove hose from engine your thermostat is undernieth

the problem is probably the heater core, it can become clogged with dribris. this stops heat from the engine getting to it and then no heat.

Try checking the two pipes that go into and come out of the heater matrix, is one of them hot? if it is there is an air lock within the matrix, Also is the thermostat opening fully? Sorry i know you said you have changed it twice already but take it out check settings when it should open and close, then boil some water and test the thermostat

Check the blend door actuator. Not sure where it is but usually right of center on the heater box, near the core. Looks like the picture below. Maybe you can trace the wires from the control panel. These actuators have a tendency to strip their gears--you may even hear it clicking as it tries to rotate the door. If not, plug it back in after you take it off to see if it will actuate. If the actuator turns, doublecheck the door to see if you can rotate it by hand. If the door is jammed, you may have to pull the whole box out to repair it. Let us know if you have more questions.
