2001 Volkswagen Beetle, turbo diesel, slow acceleration

My 2001 Volkswagen Beetle, a turbo diesel, used to have great acceleration, but in the last couple of months has slowed down - is this because of age? What should I ask a mechanic to be looking at to possibly fix the problem? There aren't any strange sounds or such - just not the acceleration it used to have. Help!!

How to clean intake on 2001 vw beetle diesel

Hi Jay, What do you need to clean and why? If the intake is fouled with oil it would seem to me that the turbo has become defective and is leaking oil into the manifold. Let us know what the problem is and if you want to clean the outside or the inside of the ducting and manifold? there is a great big difference. Regards John

What oil is needed for a 2002 VW beetle diesel for engine

I personally have used shell rotella 5w40 and nothing else since 2001. You can find it at almost any wal-mart, and napa can get it for you. Recommended viscosity is 5w40, with a commercial rating (ch, ci, cj...) and turbo approved.
