Radio needs code !

No way the radio can draw that much power even when it is left on. Check the trunk light. On some models the back seat will fold down.
Also disconnect the negative battery terminal. Touch it to the post and listen for a relay click, If one clicks find what it runs.

As with any battery drain, you would pull the fuses and disconnect the major circuits while watching a test light or meter that is showing the drain. When you find the circuit in question the light goes off.
Then the fun begins trying to find the source of the drain. In your case you may want to start with disconnecting the radio. You may need a shop manual to get the wiring diagrams.

To reprogram the radio there is 4 digit code. That code has to be inserted, once these code is inserted, your car radio will get into its actual setting where you can set/select your radio setting.

Many a time's radio asks for the code after car battery is disconnected.

On some cases to retrieve the code its mentioned in manual or else car dealer is other option to get car radio code.

Check the emissions warranty for your car - should be in the warranty and maintenance manual that came w/the owner's manual. The emissions warranty may be good 'til 100K miles and replacing the Catalytic Converter (CC) would be covered.

Also, call the MB dealer and ask 'nicely' about whether it's covered under a recall.

It could also just be a bad O2 sensor - not the CC. A failed 02 sensor can cause other issues or codes to occur.

But FIRST - have them reset/clear the code and see if it comes back....it may be a 'false-positive' and not really an issue.

BTW, don't disconnect your battery to reset the code - you may either lose your car stereo/codes or set off the alarm - unless you know how to fix both!

Check with a dealer, they can usually get you the code with proof of ownership, although some of them charge for it. I don't know about a MB, but I've had some luck looking on the internet, however they usually give you a flock of codes, and you need to keep on trying until you hit the correct one. Try the dealer first, and see what they will do for you. Good luck!

I don't know if you trying to take the radio out or just want the radio to reset so you can puch in the code. to take the radio out you'll need special tools, to reset the radio you may have to disconnect the battery and wait 5 minutes and reconnect. Good luck ...........

Check the inside of the owners manueall. If that dosent work Mercedes shold give you the code or reset it for free. Dont try to put randum codes it will lock the raidow up.

Regretfully due to reasons of theft or piracy we do not pass the radio codes here at FixYa. If you contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealer they will give you the 5 digit code. (You must have your registration and know the complete serial number of the radio)
