1996 land rover discovery want go in drive or

1996 land rover discovery want go in drive or rev. just put another engine in it was working find before. About seven small wires are not connect to any thing above the transmission. could that be the problem. please help me.

Check to see if them wires are of the gearbox solenoid you want get drive or reverse if its not connected.

1996 land rover discovery intake manifold gasket

oil from the pcv valve going into your intake manifold will cause a gasket to swell. but it should not be to the point where it's noticeable. you should probably replace the intake manifold gasket at this point.

Not moving in any gear

Have you checked the High-Low ratio lever.  Half-way between High and Low is a Neutral, so no drive to any axle even if a gear in the main box is selected.
Try locking the differential.  If this gives you drive, then it might be a final drive (half-shaft) failure.
