Got the engine check light on after a light bump on the road after which the engine started missing . How can i fix it and turn off the light in my 2003 toyota corolla 1-8E?

I had my 2003 toyota corolla 1.8E's engine washed with high pressure without the plastic engine cover and after 2-3 weeks after a light bump on the road the car stopped running smoothly so i checked all the injection coil and found one with water slighly rusted and the spark plug it was connected to also had its tip lightly rusted so i dried and cleaned it all. This resolved the problem for sometime but it reappears when i revault or the spark the engine to speed up.Is the injection coil at fault or the spark plug?If the injection coil, how can i know which is bad? And how can i turn off the light after repair?Your answer would be highly appreciated.Thank you

Sounds like the water is the culprit I think you should check your coil boots and spark plugs reset the computer by turning on the key to on position take off negative terminal on the battery leave it off for 2 minutes put it back on and the light should go out do you have a code reader it should tell you the code for your problem

Hi there!

If you have checked all the fuses under the dash, Make sure you look at those closest the battery near the engine.

If these test fine, There is probably a cable fault.

If you have a meter, take out the 15A fuse for the lighter, and use a probe between the contacts and ground (steelwork/ Negative)

You should get 12V or thereabouts. If you don't - check engine bay area fuses in the same manner one by one, then replace after testing.

Pull the fuses relating to the radio in the same manner, one by one.

You should be able to identify the fault this way if you are methodical about it.

Hope this resolvesthe problem for you. If it does, Please take a moment to rate as Fixya!

Thanks.

SOURCE: Engine Misfire issues on 99 Camry

You need to take this to a dealer, I think you may have an issue with the injector circuit, possible a defective PCM or wiring issue to the injectors, I don't think that the injectors themselves are the cause.

This is what you need to do, change the plug wires, because if there is a bad wire you would definitely experiences sputter or a stutter, so do the plug wires and at the same time do the spark plugs, this should take care of your problem. if not let me know and i will give you the next step

Got missing problem which was fixed after injection coil and one spark plug rusted by water was cleaned but the missing reappears at high speed in my toyota corolla 2003 1.8E. how can i fix it?

These days an engine light mostly should be turned off using either a code reader or a scanner. Some might still turn themselves off when the fault is fixed but that facility tends to be related more to the old days when shorting a couple of obd socket pins would cause the engine light to blink out the codes. In those days disconnecting the battery used to clear the codes and reset the defaults.

Knowing why the engine light is on would be a helpful clue to what sort of things to test and maybe repair or replace and for that a code read is the best way, though a code should never be considered a repair instruction.
Best practice is basics first. A thorough visual check of the engine compartment and ensure the routine maintenance is up to date and competently completed. You know the coil and spark plug has been giving trouble so revisit those items, all of them, for further checking and testing the spark power and quality.

Once you are satisfied all is in order, clear the code and roadtest. If the light comes back on you will need to delve further...

I would give it a tune up, plugs wires. Mostly under a load will it miss eratic. I would start there. Im sure youll find thats what the problem is. As far as trans, do see that happening.

Engine stroke on bumps

  1. Engine mount issue: If your car's engine mount is worn or damaged, it can cause the engine to move excessively when you hit bumps or rough roads. This movement can cause the engine to momentarily stall or hesitate.
  2. Fuel delivery issue: If there's an issue with fuel delivery, such as a clogged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump, it can cause the engine to momentarily lose power when you hit bumps or rough roads.
  3. Electrical issue: There could be an issue with the electrical system, such as a loose or corroded connector, that's causing a momentary loss of power to the engine.

I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy with a v6 vortec in it and i have a huge problem. When i bought the truck it started missing so i thought plugs and wires and oil change and its good. Well the problem isnt always...

Check fuel pressure it should be at least 52 psi if anything less replace fuel pump.If pressure is good then pull vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator and if fuel runs out replace regulator.

Tried to start my truck...everything seemed normal, but just before the engine kicked in, I heard a faint, muffled bump. I turned the ignition again...starter works fine and battery is strong; but no luck...

You may have a broken timing belt.
When they break, they turn over but it sounds a little different, it has an uneven sound like it has a free spot making it speed up and down as it turns over,
Somtimes they bend valves when they break, and gets expensive to fix. but you may be lucky since you wernt driving down the road. the only way to knopw for sure is to replace the belt and start it up. it should run smooth without a miss

WHEN I SHIFT INTO 5TH GEAR TRUCK STARTS MISSING BAD 1-4 GREAT

if its a five speed I can safely assume its not an automatic
good that makes it a bit easier

so you have a manual trans that makes the truck miss
that hardly seems possible
but try this
next time it does this keep your foot at same point on throttle(not floored)
and push in on clutch
does engine die
or does truck smooth out
if it dies you have an ign problem on engine
if it smooths out you have a gear case/transfer case or clutch problem

if it turns out to be the engine
ck the distributor cap for cracks
place strong light bulb inside cap ( remove it first) no need to remove all the wires
look for light on outside of cap

I had a guy bring me a 05 ranger that did all sorts of weird stuff
like not running if it was raining outside
starts right up but ran rough so bad you could not even get it in gear
and yep you guessed it the distributor cap was broke
(so bad you could see spark comming out the side )
15 bucks for a cap
