If it is a wheel bearing it should make more noise turning one way or the other,if it doesn't make a difference which way you turn it's not the wheel bearing

Testimonial: "It dosent do this when turn only when driving forward .it starts off slow whining nose then gets loud and it will just stop .."

I have a 2006 4runner and it has a rather loud whine coming from the rear end, is it the wheel bearings or does the diff need work ie bearings?

My 2002 Sequoia had that ***** whine too.
It ended up being rear wheel bearings.

Not to rule out ring and pinion gears in the rear end, I hope it ends up just being the bearings for you.

Wheel bearing? If you turn left and it gets louder. It is the right wheel bearing. And vice versa.

I replaced the wheels hubs on my 2009 Pontiac g5 and it's still making a whining sound from the front end as I gain speed.

Whining sounds come from diffs that have a problem in the mesh between the crown wheel and pinion If yours is not front wheel drive then the noise may be from over tightened wheel bearings or failed bearings or the abs sender touching the exciter

Whining noise progressively gets louder with speed

One wheel turning faster than the other is normal if both wheels are off the ground. If one wheel is dragging when the other wheel is on the ground, it could be brakes or a wheel hub bearing.
Usually if the noise happens on right turns, the left hub bearing is failing, and vice versa.

1999 ford explorer limited whining noise in front end

Whining noise is probably in one of the pulleys or belts. Probably the power steering. And the popping is probably CV axles.

sounds like a wheel bearing maybe faulty from your text it sounds like it could be the osf you could try jacking vehicle up with engine off handbrake applied and in neutral spin the wheel and see if it makes noise or wiggle it to see if it has any play possibly take off greade cap and see if any grease in bearing /
