Try reversing the vehicle at various speeds to get the selector to disengage, if not jack the vehicle up with all four wheels off the ground, and slowly engage first and reverse, trying to get it to jump out of four wheel drive. Their maybe a lot of transmission wind up, especially if it has been driven on tarmac, but hopefully not a lot of damage.
Once you have removed the bolts, sometimes you have to take a thin flat object and insert it inbetween the pan and the transmission as the adhesive used to seal the pan gasket will hinder the removal of the pan itself. Hope that helps.
the other trick the gas companies play on us is they add alot of alcohol to the fuel to help it not to freeze...unfortuneatly we get no mileage from that alcohol. but we do pay for it.... soooooo in essence ya car getting same mpg as it was...sort of.... just less burnable fuel for you.......
