Shift solenoid 2000 Isuzu Rodeo shifting from 1st to 3rd only when it is cold. After it warms up rides smooth as glass. Have taken to several mechanics and all have told me something different but all with transmission. The last guy said thought it was a shift solenoid. How do I know who is right?

I suggest you try one of those instant download manuals. My nephew bought one for me when my car broke and we could fix it all by ourselves with the manual costing $10. This website reliable-store.com is very good for this.
?Try it.

SOURCE: 1998 Rodeo Transmission Speed Sensor

Hi, I have a trooper also, I am pretty sure if it has a speed sensor it would ;located on the transmission near the tailshaft. Not sure that will help, but mine is a standard, so I can't look for you.
or the transfer case maybe?

SOURCE: Poor Shifting

Well, if it was low on fluid, and it was driven for a distance, you could of wrecked the interior gears of the tranni or other parts. I'm not a tranni guy but I know if you run a vechile with low tranni fluid you're asking for a new tranni or to have that one rebuilt.

SOURCE: 2000 ISUZU TROOPER WITH AUTO TRANSMISSION. CHECK

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..

SOURCE: Where on the transmission -- is the shift solenoid

It is located just under the pan in a block called the valve body, it contains 2 shift solenoids, and a million little canals for oil. There is no drain plug on it, just have to drop the pan and spill out the fluid, that drips for months afterward. You can change these things if you are handy, if not, don't even attempt it. Watch out for the check balls,

It's a 2000 Isuzu rodeo that will want shift in higher gears acts like it's in N shifts in to drive and reverse fine but want shift in higher gears

we cant guess your drive line, not now or ever.
so why ask. us?
my guess you mean the car drives in 1st gear but will not upshift,
and flares, in a false neutral.
wont and want is speed wrong 2 times, why?
Is car with TOD? torque on demand option, we cant see the dash board, we be like blind.
check fluild levels yet,
get the box serviced last decade, (a full flush and filter,) sure no.
check fuses, maybe car has TCM that cant up shift due to fuse blown.
and last did you scan it, if not why not
that be 3rd step after levels, fuses, then scan.
if the TCM cant see sensors, it cant upshift,
TCM is the tranny brain.

Hi please help my Isuzu 4L 30 E auto transmission bump when down change I have been changed all solenoid but the same problems so what it wrong ? Thanks

what isuzu is this, model car or truck
no model stated. (wild guess RODEO)
no year stated, 1991 to 2001 used.
no engine size state or of gas(petrol) or diesel
zero input just 4l30e box, lots of those
so Ill daftly guess.car
it's a car a ,(see list at end)
and has TCM that shifts those solenoids.
check fuses yet?
scan it yet, scan it to see all those TCM errors yet?DTC P07xx errors>
seems not.
why change the solenoids.??? hard work for a guess.

symptoms, decoded
hash shifting.
only when it downs shifts, but all lower gears?
or 3>2 only.
the Tcm SHIFTs the box.
it shifts based on
speed
load
and driver demands.
this are all sensors. every one.

just like on new cars.
the TCM (brain) can go to limphome mode
and guess what?, it will shift funny, for sure.
crude as h3ll and may skip gears (and more)
that you think are harsh but in fact the skipping gear is the cause ,harsh is effects.

All modern car ,needs a scan tool to work all cars
i guess you dont know that.?

scan it
get it scanned
buy the tool.
rent it.
no car stated, so can't wax too savvy!
not at all.
is car in USA?

the book shows this.
"High Flow" Pulse Width Modulated
Solenoid (for 3-2 Downshifts Only)
id bet, limphome mode cancels this modulation...!

runs highest/newest # DEXRON fluid, (VI)
are levels at spec. not overfilled, using correct method of the BOOK.???

fits:
1998–2000 Isuzu Amigo
2002–2003 Isuzu Axiom
1999-2001 Isuzu VehiCROSS
1991–2003 Isuzu Rodeo
2001–2003 Isuzu Rodeo Sport
1990–2002 Isuzu Trooper

Shift points high

Did the problem exist before you changed the fluid? you can try some conditioner to see if the internal seals may be a little tired.

Shifts hard only some times when cold or hot from 3rd to over drive the truck has 130,000 miles and is a 2000 chevy silverado 2500 6.0L

1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace or EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break. Start with the simple and check the transmission fluid level and condition.Secondly, put a line pressure gauge (or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan).
No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Good luck and keep me posted.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee shifting problem from 2nd to 3rd

Check the kick down cable. If it sticks the transmission won't shift. I sprayed WD-40 on both the top and bottom connectors , and it worked like a charm. It's alot cheaper them spending 2000 on a new transmission you don't really need.
