You'll have to remove the display and get the serial number off of it, call the dealer and get the code. Easier to register on Acuraowners.com and do it that way.

For 1996 Acura TL 2.5L PFI 5cyl the Vehicle Speed Sensor - Location is located mounted on transmission.

its behind the gear shifter there is a plastic cover that slips out if you prize it with a screwdriver.

The knock sensor is part #8 on the diagram. seems to be inside the engie. call your acura dealer to verify. if it is, it's a lot of work.

remove the intake manifold ,remove radiator ,remove radiator intake and outake housing, remove fan ,remove all belts: power steering, alternator and if you have a/c, remove harmonic balancer ,remove timing belt covers, remove timing belt remove intake housinng once you have remove all the above, your freaken engine will look naked, you can see the location of the knock sensor is locate in the engine valley

9 times out of 10 it is a faulty sensor. if you have the 4 cylinder engine, v-tech? it will be located on the back of the block next to the oil filter. if you have the V6 it will be under the intake manifold.you can test the knock sensor with a dvm. set your mter on continuity, hook your leeds to the single pin conector and the side of the sensor, you should have a resistance reading.now lightly tap on the side of the sensor with a small screw driver. if the resistance changes the sensor is good

Contact you can look under your nav system in the trunk. You will need to remove the screws that hold the Nav System in place. The serial number is right in the middle on the bottom of the unit. Once you have it, call Acura and tell them you need the code. You will also have to prove that you own the vehicle. Good Luck.

Your navigation code and radio codes writed on stikers on glovebox. Just open your glovebox and look on left side of gloivebox, not inside but outside. Open glovebox and look on left side. On my 2005 Acura RL NAV and Radio codes is different but it both on glove box. Sometime you even need to remove your glovebox cover to see those codes.
