Jeep Wrangler 1999 - IMMOBILIZER PROBLEM

I have the same problem. I have worked out that it is the cars immobilizer {it usually happens when its hot-external temp}. Haven't solved the problem yet but would appreciate any feedback. I have put the immobizer in heat proof material and has solved problem - 85%. An electricial has told me that something is effected by the heat on the immobilzer console but hasn't managed to mend.

Can i by-pass the immobilizer?

SOURCE: 1999 Jeep wrangler runs rough

Check the gas, could be water in it or drive the car with a fuel pressure tester connected to it and watch to see if you lose pressure.
Normal pressure while driving is about 30 to 40 psi

SOURCE: my immobilizer will not disarm

when you say "the immobilizer will not go off" that mean you can still drive the car or not, when the immobilizer goes on you can start the car but will not run, so what do you need a spear key for .you may need the valet key, is a gray key .
I am professional car alarm and remote start installer so I deal with this kind of problems if you have any question email me

SOURCE: i have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler and the heater fan

If you bypass the resistor pack and connect the motor directly to the fused 12v supply then the fan should run at maximum speed. If so, it's the resistor pack that's blown: a very common fault on a huge number of makes and models.

Vw beetle does not start. seems like its some kind of anti theft protection. the car/key icon lights up, it turns over for a second , then off. this is the first time this has happened, but we bought it...

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

  • Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

No power after removing the alarm

Depending on what you mean by removing the alarm it could be a few things. I'll assume it was a factory alarm with an immobilizer. If so you have triggered the immobilizer which in turn told the vehicle's computer that the vehicle had been stolen. Once the code is sent the car will not start.

You need and ODB III to tell the computer to reset. The dealer can do this for you ($40 of so)

Depending on the vehicle it may lock again if the immobilizer is disconnected (assuming factory unit).

Hope this helps. Please rate if it helps you.

97 jeep wrangler starts then stops right away, I can give it gas and get the rpms up then it just stops. I have already replaced the spark plugs, fuel injectors the wires and the rotor cap and rotor. Even...

I had the same problem with my 1997 Wrangler. I seem to of solved this by turning the ignition to off then depressing the lock on the immobilizer. Then waited for about 10-15 seconds after the red light on the dash quit blinking fast . Then I hit the unlock on the immobilizer and the Jeep started and ran ok. I guess the immobilizer is the culprit and it doesn't unlock initially
