Likely you have one or more injectors that are internally leaking. To determine which ones, after the car has been sitting overnight, remove the plugs and see which ones are wet The corresponding injectors are faulty. Do not drive the car with fuel contamination in the engine oil...it will wipe out your engine bearings and vapors can mess with the evap system.
OK, coils can do it too...not lighting the fuel in the cylinders will put unused portion into oil, past rings...That is the value of being there, not here...You can do the testing and observations I can't!!!
Bad odometer is generally bad gauge cluster but again...only educated guess.

Where I'd go first is to make sure all dash connectors are clean and properly connected. If still nothing, see if you can get a replacement cluster from a scrapyard. Make note of original miles and that way you know what "actual" miles are. As far as I know, changes need to be reported when a dealer does this work, but not an individual, but it helps if you keep a record if a dispute interferes with a future re-sale. If speedometer is functioning normally, then most common item is cluster but as you already learned, testing, not guessing is important.

Your fuel injections lines in intake and injectors and fuel pressure regulator. could be leaking.look under hood.on intake where fuel pressure regulator. is look for gas odor and gas leak.if you get a strong gas scent you need to fix it quick.you got a fire hazard.
