Question about 1997 Pontiac Bonneville

Open Question

Blower motor resistor troubleshooting

I have an SSEi with electronic climate control, and a blower resistor with a heat-synched resistor and two plugs going to it (one power, the other with three contacts). Currently, I have 21 Ohms resistance between power and the single top contact (with power plug to left), and an open circuit to the two lower contacts. Is this a normal reading, or can you show a schematic of this component please? Thank you!!

SOURCE: Daytime running light/blower motor interaction

I have the same problem. I've heard the ignition switch harness is shorting out and replacing the ignition switch ($75-$125 part) will fix it. A few torx drivers and sockets are needed to replace it (a 4mm hex socket works for the column covers, but the bolts holding the ignition switch in are even smaller. I have it apart down to where I need a smaller torx socket to continue.)

SOURCE: blower fan only works on high

CHECK THE HVAC CTRL FUSE.

WITH A TEST LIGHT CHECK THE BLOWER RESISTOR FOR POWER ON THE YELLOW, TAN, PURPLE, AND LIGHT BLUE WIRES. THE ORANGE WIRES CONTROL THE HIGH SPEED CIRCUIT. DO THIS FOR EACH POSITION OF THE BLOWER SWITCH.

THE BROWN WIRE ON THE HVAC CONTROL CONNECTOR 1 POSITION B COMES FROM THE HVAC FUSE 20 AMP. NO POWER ON THAT WIRE WILL CAUSE THE BLOWER TO NOT FUNCTION ON THE LOWER SPEEDS.

Can't locate the blower motor resistor

Here's a link to what your blower motor resistor look's like,it's next to the blower motor,2 screws hold it on.Blower Motor location can change from year to year. It can change with the trim level of the vehicle. A vehicle that has front and rear climate controls may be configured differently than a vehicle that has front controls only. The following are two different repair procedures. One is given because the blower motor is located and accessed in the engine compartment, the other is given because the blower motor is mounted inside the vehicle. http://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating-and-climate-control/blower-motor-resistor/duralast-blower-motor-resistor/cadillac/deville/1990/8-cylinders-3-4-5l-fi/860043_0_0 Here's a link to your blower motor. Heater blower motor.,Highspeed only works..problem??

9 out of 10 times its the heater fan resistor doing this. it has wires that corresponed to diffreent speed settings for heater fan. the resistor is beside the blower motor, Your Kia Sportage Blower Motor Resistor controls the heating equipment in the vehicle by opening and closing the fan motor. The Kia Sportage Blower Motor Resistor allows the heating and climate control system to control the speed of the vehicle's cooling fan. its under the passenger side glove box. undo 2 screws and disconnect the electrical connector. thats it!!

Heater switch replacment

Hello! it's my job to make things as easy for the customer as possible...Therefore I must ask why you want to replace the heater switch? Is it because you have lost one or two of the switch speeds? Your vehicle is noted for loss of the Blower Motor Resistor...
Changing the Heater switch means removal of the Climate Control Assembly which is not the easiest of jobs...I've included the process...But are you sure the blower resistor is OK? If you have lost 1,2, or all blower motor speeds it's more than likely the Resistor pack. And a lot easier to change...

WHERE IS THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR LOCATED ON A 2006 EDDIE BAUER EXPEDITOIN? mY A/C AND HEAT WILL ONLY BLOW ON THE HIGH SETTING. IT HAS CLIMATE CONTROL AND DUAL CONTROL FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER...

I found this wiring schematic at: http://www.f150online.com/forums/articles-how-tos/385953-replace-04-08-fan-blower-motor-resistor-emtc-hvac-3.html
It looks like it is located under the dash on the passenger side, and appears to be pretty close to the blower motor. The resistor or controller is different if you have a climate control system vs. a manual temperature control.
Here is a possible picture of the climate control module:

Where is the blower motor relay located on a 1997 buick lesabre.

There are 2 relays for the blower. The low blower relay and the high blower relay. They are both located
under the hood in the center of the firewall.
The low will have 4 wires from it, one lt. blue and 3 brown. The high will have 5 wires 1 purple(to blower mtr.) 1 black 1 dk blue 1 red and 1 orange.
Also, the blower resistor is in the same area if needed. Hope this helps.

Blower motor or resistor?

Yes its the blower motor resistor.

More then likley theres some trash or something in it, or possibly the motor itself is on it's way out. There not that bad to pull out of that body car, just pull it out and see what you can see.

The blower motor is under the glove compartment

You can replace the resistor on your own. Please find a detailed diagram which would guide you to do it.

Your blower motor is probably out. It also could be a fuse or the blower motor resistor. Blower motor resistors commonly fail.
