SOURCE: oil pressure sending unit

Hi there;

Your looking foer the oil pressure sensor on the 2004 8.1L.
You will find it located directly behind the EGR valve threaded into the block just to the drivers side of the center bolt for the transmission to block connection.

Thanks

Where is the oil pressure sending unit located on a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 liter vortec.

Its in the rear/ top /center. Hidden alittle, you can get it out with a special socket and it's not hard to access.

Oil pressure drops to zero when engine starts then goes to 60,while driving after warm,pressure drops down 4.3 V6 vortec engine

The 4.3 engine should have 20 to 30 psi at idle cold and around 50 to 60 psi running down the road. Has this engine had regular oil changes? If not the problem could be sludge build up. The oil pressure sending unit could be the problem. If in question about the sending unit install a mechanical gauge and watch the pressure.

I have a 2003 gmc sierra 5.3 liter vortec why does my truck leak oil only under pressure

because your oil pressure rises to around 40psi when running and will leak at the weakest place,check your oil sending unit first and seals.

Will a 2001 6.0l fit in a 2000?

Yes it will and if your luck, the 2001 6.0 liter vortec will have aluminum heads unlike the 2000 6.0 liter vortec. The 2000 engine code LQ4 and if you find a LQ9, then your going to have a out put of 345HP and 325HP for the LQ4.

Thank you for using Fixya and good luck

I need to change the oil pressure sensor, where is it found

The oil pressure sending unit is located to the right of the oil filter and just above the starter motor. This is on the 3.4 liter V6.
On the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder the switch is on the left (drivers) side of the cylinder head.
