Peugeot 307 won,t stay in 5th gear - 1999 Toyota RAV4

You most likely have two problems. 1. The throw out bearing is probably bad, and 2. This has caused some gear shearing within the gear box. Best fix is to have the gear box removed, cleaned, check for chipped, cracked gear teeth, and replace with good gears. Also, check the synchronizer , make sure it is in good working order.

It appears u do not reach the speed it is required for the 5th gear. Plz check it otherwise there should not problem exclusive with the 5th gear

sounds like the gearbox selector, by the way have you checked the gearbox oil to see if its low or contaminated

the car is imobalised, try disconectint the earth from battery for 5 mins and reconect, car should start

and 4000RPM at 90MPH is a problem??

ABS light coming on,For this get the Engine computer scanned.It can be error codes stored in computer.------------

sounds like the baulk ring has broken up ,you will need to replace this or get a recon box.

i can't change into 2nd,4th and reverse gears. i think its a gear lever cable not sure doe any ideas?

sometimes a nut comes loose behind the end cover on ml5 box.
