86 honda civic wagon just died on the road!

Going about sixty in fourth gear, shifted to fifth and lost all power. engine turns but wont catch. suspect it is the fuel pump. anyone else have any ideas? if it is the pump, can it be repaired without having to drop the tank?

I have a 2001 honda civic ex 1.7 liter, and when I have to brake suddenly the car idles down really low like its wanting to die. Is this the timing

I doubt it very much. The engine slowing down under brakes indicates that the gears are not down shifting in relation to the engine rpm and road speed. run fault codes and look for a TCM sensor problem

What causes 1998 Honda civic keeps dying?

Need way more information. What's in common when this hapopens? Are you stopped at a light? Slowing down? Shifting into 2nd gear? When you restart, is there a particular pattern or sound when it restarts? Is it hard or easy to restart? Does it start right up, or does the engine spin and "try to start" before it finally catches? And on and on. Try to isolate specific common issues and post those, please.

Can i shift the gear immediately while climbing on a high roads from high speed to low speed on a automatic transmission 1996 honda civic vti vtec? Do i need to brake first the engine before i will shift...

That is not recommended, as it could cause transmission damage. Since you have a VTEC you should get a power boost at around 5000 rpm which should make climbing hills easier and not need a shift of the transmission.

I cant get into gear at all on my 98 honda civic. whats wrong??

inside the hood there are two clips holding the shiftting cable you may have lost them. you may want to check the driveshafts because one of them might have poped out.

Tercel Wagon SR5 with 190,000 miles.

Tere may be no solution to this problem because the car has 200,000 miles on it however I can explain somewhat, when engines heat up occasionally we find break downs in efficiencies regarding to moving parts, (loosening up then binding ) this may however not be the problem it may be as simple as fuel pump fatigue after running a while and it can't deliver the appropriate fuel pressure. I would say perform commpression test to assess engine efficiency then evaluate ignition ensuring bright blue or purple spark coming from exposed sparkplug then ensure proper fuel pressure/delivery and check vaccuum pressure to ensure a steady reading of 18-20 pounds of vacuum ... got it if low vacuum replace all vacuum hose to eliminate porous condition of hose therbye leaking small amounts adding up to a larger total accumulative sum. causing poor performance. good luck
