How to fix code p0441 on 1997 jeep wrangler?

codes can not be fixed, only diagnosed
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0441

try getting the gas cap tight this time.
or new cap
if not you have to test the whole system. EVAP
that means pressure testing it first.
the each part. last.
THE FSM (fact. service manual) covers EVAP tests 100 % step by step, why not read that
or at alldata.com
its all there too, step by step, then ask questions on steps. if lost

p0441 and no others.? Routan? "Chinese word?"
or a car by that name posted in a SUzuki forum????
2004 or 2012? why post 2 years? how odd that.....
does that mean you have a scan tool?
ill pretend car not stated, nor what country.
and answer with USA federal p0441 codes... we invented it so....

this codes is EVAP failure.
that means in bar stool language, the tank vapor venting system.
is no longer contained, (breached ) or means its failing, for other reasons.
what to do is this, tighten the gas cap, clear the code and see if it comes back , if it repeats try a new cap.
if repeats again (note cheap to expensive fixes)
get the EVAP system pressure tested. (yes, all shops do this)
if this passes we then test the EVAP solenoids, next.

P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge FlowOBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description

Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
What does that mean?

This indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer functioning correctly. The EVAP system consists of many parts, including (but not limited to) the gas cap, fuel lines, carbon canister, purge valve, and other hoses. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

EVAP emission canister purge is controlled by a valve which allows engine vacuum to pull stored fuel vapors from fuel tank into the engine to be burned, rather than be vented to atmosphere. A vacuum switch is used to detect when flow exists. If the PCM commands purge and sees that the switch is closed (indicating no detected purge flow) P0441 is set.
Symptoms

Likely, no symptoms will be discernible to the driver, other than the illuminated Check Engine Light.
Causes

A code P0441 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

  • Bad vacuum switch
  • Broken or damaged EVAP line or canister
  • Open in PCM purge command circuit
  • Open or short in Voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
  • Faulty purge solenoid
  • Restriction in EVAP solenoid, line or canister
  • Corrosion or resistance in purge connector
  • Bad PCM
Possible Solutions

With a P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

  • Common Chrysler fix - Replace Leak Detection Pump / LDP
  • Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister
  • Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
  • Repair open in PCM purge command circuit
  • Replace purge Solenoid
  • Replace vacuum switch
  • Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or solenoid
  • Repair resistance in purge connector
  • Replace PCM

P1410, P0441 & P0773 codes in '97 Toyota Camry

P1410 - Fuel Tank Pressure System
P0441 - Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0773 - Shift Solenoid Electrical
P0446 - EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control System

Ok, above are the codes listed on your description and there respective definitions. the P0441 and the P0446, basically run parallel and they mean the same thing. Its concerning the disposal of fuel fume waste that is burned in the EVAP canister during the EVAP process. the EVAP vent solenoid valve will have to be replaced.

The P1410 can be resolved be replacing the fuel pressure regulator which is part of the fuel pump assembly. I would also make sure the gas cap is correctly screwed on and its tight and mot lose.

The P0773 is quite different than the others. this concerns the solenoid that is located in the transmission pan. the scan has detected a malfunctioning solenoid that may ****** the shifting cycle of your transmission.

The EVAP situation will fail the emission's test if not fixed but, this shift solenoid issue, although not an emission's issue, should be check and fix soon.

Please rate and god bless:)
