2001 jeep very intermittently will crank but not start, and sometimes the engine shuts off while driving. Had it put on jeep scan tool, no codes. 50 psi fuel pressure while running. It never happens while we have scan tool or gages ready. I replaced the crank sensor and it ran perfect for about 1.5 months and it has started happening, again. Maybe bad crank sensor again?
It is possable/likely a bad ECTS (engine coolant tep. sensor), this can cause the injectors to allow to much fuel into cylinders and cause a low compression and or flooding situation, good luck, marty
I had the same problem with my 2001 cherokee. The vehicle would run and unpredicatbly shut down. If I left it alone for a while it would start again. I took it to my mechanic who check the fuel pump, that was working properly. He later changed the crankshaft speed sensor and the vehicle is running great with no more shut off.
