My 2007 Chevy Silverado K1500, 5.3L 130,000m engine just quit while waiting to turn at an intersection. Never happened before since I've owned it and it has been running great. Engine cranks easily. On 3rd attempt, the engine started and Chk Engine light was on. Drove short distance and engine failed again. Was lucky to have enough momentum to pull into a lot and get out of traffic. Naturally hard to turn steering. Called for tow. Tried to start engine several times (short durations - as truck always started instantly before. Checked under hood. Removed air filter. Looked clean, but left it out intending to replace it. Tried one more time to start and it did. Ran beautiful. Cancelled tow. At AutoZone the codes were: PO606 and PO609E. They cleared the check eng. light. Tow guy said it was probably fuel pump + stated that these trucks typically have a bad fuel pump ground beneath drivers side. Truck still running great w/new air filter but check engine light came on right after filling tank at gas station (within 25 miles of incident)

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

Your vehicle should never over heat regardless of age. Your thermostat and radiator cap will however become tired and will need to be replaced. The coolant in your engine should also be replaced as the PH level will rise and this will eat away at your radiator.
As for your brakes squealing, they may need to be replaced. There are little springs on your front brakes that will contact your rotor and these are intended to let you know that you have 10% left.

Change your fuel filter, it may have gone it's life time and is getting to dirty to let fuel flow properly. Your fuel pump to may be getting weak, if the fuel filter is dirty the pump works harder and heats up and could be over heating the fuel pump relay too. The fuel pump relay i believe is in the glove box behind a panel that say relay, there should be (3) in there and the middle one is the fuel pump's. switch then around after you change the fuel filter and if you get a chance, check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve. Good luck and hope this help's if there is a Auto Zone around you, you can ask to use the fuel pressure gauge to see what fuel pressure you have and they'll have the step by step instructions on how to do it and takes about 5 min to do and will have the fuel filter and step by step to replace that too. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

if this is a distributor engine, check the cap and rotor. if it is a V8, it is a known problem.

even though it is a new pump it doesnt mean that it is putting out the correct pressure the fuel pressure for your truck should be between 9 and 13 lbs... do you have a check engine light on?
