SOURCE: 1999 a4 2.4 auto uk model gearbox fault

After a jump start because of no electrical power, the car will run rough for several days (expected) while it adjusts to your driving habits. I'm not sure about the gears, but I'd try to drive with it like that for a few days and see if it returns to normal.

unlikely to be her fault unless she hits the selector unknowingly
could be loose selection control or possible TCM problem
best place to start is having the fault codes read and proceed from there

My pathfinder automatic loses power when I stop at lights or junctions Nissan quoting 3.5k for new transfer box is this right

I can't see how a transfer box is causing this problem. The transfer box is after the auto trans and distributes drive to front and rear riffs (rear all the time;front when selected by the computer)
Go for a second opinion from an auto expert..and get the fault codes on your computer scanned..there may be a much less expensive answer than that......

Discovery td5 auto. M & S warning lights come on and flash on dash. Loss of power therafter.

hi this problem is caused by a geatbox fault , something is causing the fault code to bring on your warning lights , in this mode the gearbox locks up and the tourqe converter takes up the drive , when you drive of it feels like you only have 3 gear , change the oil and filter in the box and make sure you have the correct level of oil in the box , very important , td5 auto 192k

98 vw passat auto box can only select 1st 2nd no reverse its a 1.8 petrol

this sounds like a fault with the solenoids in the box, especially as u havent described any slipping or juddering and loss of drive.
this tends to happen as a sort of limp mode, to allow some movement of the vehicle, im afraid the only option for u is a gerabox specialist.......

If the "overdrive off" light is flashing, this indicates an error condition in the transmission ECU.

There is a diagnostics procedure you can follow, but it is a bit too long to go in to here. Try and track down a copy of the Toyota service manual, number RM315E (searching the ih8mud forums is a good start) and follow the procedure in there for reading the fault codes.

It involves bridging the diagnostics connector in the engine bay (facing the front of the vehicle with the bonnet open it is to the right of the engine on the bulkhead) - easy to do...

Driving from cold start Auto gearbox sticks in low gear for a couple of miles before shifting

Try having the gearbox oil changed and filter in the box if it has one, this is a cheap way to start fault finding. and take it from there.
