Kia Rio (2003, manual) losing power

Initially, the problem was going uphill. However, even in the flats. When I shift into a higher gear I have little to no power. I'm shifting in the normal RPM range. If I try to mash the accelerator, the engine revs but doesn't transfer power to the wheels.

Could this be the clutch?

Sorry,

That is tell-tale signs of your clutch going out..almost gone. Be sure to replace your clutch plate, pressure plate, have the flywheel turned by a machine shop and replace the throw-out bearing and the master/slave cylinder or it will need to be fixed again way too soon. Only other thing I can think of is if it has a cable controlled clutch (not likely) these type need to be adjusted from time to time as the cable stretches.

P0304 misfire losing power especially going uphill.

Question edited. It is 'P-Zero', not 'P-Letter Oh'.

Help in the link. By substitution and swapping the parts you have, you can work out what part is faulty, or just take it to an auto-electrician.

I have a kia rio 2001 the car shakes when i drive it. seems that it does not go into gears, it has no power.

AUTO GEAR THE SERVICE MANUAL DOES NOT REQUIRE TO CHANGE GEAR OIL AND FILTER ,BUT TIME AND USAGE OF THE CAR MAKES THE OIL FITLY AND EVAPORATE EVEN IN CLOSE GEARS.SO CHANGING REFRESH THE GEAR SHIFTING USUALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM IF ITS NO TOO LATE ADV. CHANGE GEAR OIL EVERY OTHER SERVICE SCHEDULE.

I have the same car, the only solution to this problem is to tighten the clutch cable nut just as necessary until you feel that you are able to shift smoothly without forcing it, make sure you start the car to test for that.

You might have to remove the air intake in order to access the clutch cable.

If you tighten the nut too much, your clutch will feel light and you will have clutch slips. So basically keep trying until you're there. You can loosen or tighten the nut while the car is running, I'd recommend.

2003 Kia Rio manual transmission, stick is stiff going from gear to gear. Not a clutch or transmission problem.

under the car there is a change control arm sometimes when that comes loose it makes it difficult to shift from gear to gear. the change control arm should be right under your shifter for repair info go to autozone.com sign up its free then click on repair manuals you will find all of your info there....good luck

2003 kia rio no power

Is the engine light on? If not it could be mechanical. The engine sounds like it is suffocating. This could be because of your catalytic converter, air or fuel filter. Take a look at the vehicles repair/maintenance history and go from there. If the car has over 100k miles then you may need the CAT.
