1990 Buick Park Ave.

Engine running rough idle and under load, stalls at idle going down highway. Check fuel pressure, changed fuel filter, plug wires, coil pack,ICM. Checked cam, crank sensor. Disconnected battery to clear ECM which didnt have a check eng. light on. Started engine ran great, shut off and restarted 2-3 times and went back to running bad. Got it to run at half throttle and the exhaust pipe was glowing red from engine to muffler.

Clean the idler on the intake and also clean the throttle sensor, it would also be best to change the air filter and clean the maf sensor. Idler does more than just idle vehicle it controls low revs, and drop down from reves. throttle sensor tell ecu what air to add to the fuel. and the MAF tells ecu how much air is coming into the intake. also check for broken cracked vacuum lines.

SOURCE: intermitant stalling hard starting replaced ecm,

Hi, first thing, is your check engine light on? if it is, you can check the codes yourself, get a paper clip unfold it so you got 2 straight ends, find your dianostics port where you plug in the scanner, take the paper clip and stick one end into the one on the far right and the other to the one next to it and turn ignition key to on position, check engine should start blinking if not move the last end of paper clip you plug into the next one in port until it does( turning key off each time before you move paper clip end) do this procedure until the light starts to blink. When it blinks count the blinks, for example it will blink one time than a pause than blink twice quick which means 12 and so on. It will start out with a 12 which means the computer is ready to give stored codes. Just write down the codes and either take them to napa, or auto zone, or to a shop you know, and they can tell you what they mean. On a car that old it could be almost anything, parts wear out, but right now what stands out to me by your description i would check the cadalitic converter it might be plugged. Take some advise get someone that knows something about cars or at least works on them on a regulator bases. That way your not playing a gessing game.

1990 Buick Regal 3.1 has rough idle, hesitates and dies when accelerating.

A lot of new parts! Have a compression test done to gauge the engine's internal condition, and go from there. If compression is good on all 6 cylinders, scan for trouble codes. The compression test may find your problem, something like an exhaust valve burned or not seating properly.

97 buick lesabre 3.8 Idles rough and stalls out.

Fuel injectors go bad on these engines, you can find re manned ones for 30 bucks. If you have an engine light on get that read. Change your coil/wires/plugs also. Is the lower intake manifold gasket leaking coolant yet? You may want to get that replaced also. Check the TPS too (throttle positioning sensor) those will also cause your engine to act up

Car idles rough in park also runs rough in overdrive

Sometimes a rough idle like that is a fuel filter. As you've already done the plugs and wires the fuel filter would be my next bet.

1987 Buick Lesabre T stalling and running rough

I just had the same problem. Replaced the fuel filter, still crappy idle and no acceleration. I replaced the fump pump along with the wiring harness and the fuel pump screen and my cars purrs like a kitten, has back to normal acceleration and idles better than before. Hope this is some sort of help to you. I did it myself. Total cost, a little over $120. Good luck. By the way, your fuel pump should be pushing out about 65 lbs of pressure. is it ???

Starts fine, Idles fine, Drives Fine for a while

you might want to chk. the crank sensor and or cam sensor. sounds more to me that it could be fuel problem. chk. fuel pressure. pump could be on its way out. don't be fooled by hearing the pump running as they sound like they are pumping but there not, at least not enought pressure to keep it running. pressure should be around 50 p.s.i.
