SOURCE: how to re-set service light

there are three different dash panels used in the volvo v70 and s70 for 1998.
2 of them are made by VDO the third is made by YAZAKI

- the YAZAKI dash has a small rubber plug just to the left of the speedometer, pop it out with a small screwdriver and and use the screwdriver to push in the button behind it then reinstall the plug

- the EARLY VDO dash cannot be reset without a factory scan tool production date before 8/97

- the LATE VDO dash can be reset, turn ignition off, press and hold trip reset button, turn ignition on (still holding button) hold for 10 seconds release when light flashes

SOURCE: THE ABS light on my Volvo S70 went on and turned off in a minute.

It should come on for a few seconds with the other lights, but should not stay on for a minute.  If you get an intermittent ABS light it could be a speed sensor or more likely the ABS module.  If you get an ABS light along with a flashing arrow light, traction control light, or  speedometer and odometer goes out, then it is just about guaranteed to be an ABS module issue.  There are online sites that will rebuild ABS units for around $150 or less.  They are pretty easy to remove and install yourself with the right socket.  Google "Victor Rocha".  His site has good information on the procedure and he is well trusted for his rebuilding jobs (I have no affiliation to him or the site).

SOURCE: my s70 1198 volvo's radio says off what do i do??

You have to put the battery on a charger and leave the key turned to the accessory position, meaning the car is not running but the radio still displays off. You will have to wait approximately 50 minutes to 2 hours till the word "code" is displayed.Once that has occured, you can put in your code and it will work. Or you can drive around for that length of time until it says code and you will input the correct code and you radio will work. I did this on a long trip.

How to turn off service engine light on 98 volvo s70. just did oil change

There is unfortunately no "trick" for this. You will need the service light reset tool. On some other Volvo models it was possible to reset the light by holding down the reset button for the trip meter and turning the key to position II - keep holding the reset button down for about 30 seconds.

1998 Volve S70. The abs light and the tracs off light stay on all the time. any idea why? the drivers seat automatic button will move the seat backward but not forward. All the memory buttons work and it...

On ABS light most common problem is ABS control module , they failing left and right.
As for the seat adjustment , sound like you need a new seat switch.

Which fuse powers the ABS light in the volvo 1998 S70?

None---It's ECU controlled. But if it bothers you because it's annoying, then you could reach into the dash behind the bulb with a 12 inch slotted thin screwdriver, and "fix it" permanently with upward pressure on the bulb! :)

The ABS light goes on (sometimes when the engin reaches it's normal temperature) it doesn't go on when is cold... What can be the problem? Sometimes it even goes off after it reaches the final...

there will be an ABS system trouble code stored, don't guess have the dealer or a Volvo background shop check the system for that code, then u will know where to look for the problem that turned the light on..

ABS Light

It's possible that you have a dirty or somewhat damaged ABS/wheel speed sensor. These sensors are either on the wheel hubs near the rotors, or (at least in the rear) possibly on either side of the differential. Being under the car, they're prone to damage from the elements, from road debris, etc. You may have a wire or connector on a sensor damaged. A scan of your car's fault codes should reveal whether it's a wheel speed sensor or something else though. On my Audi, a scan tells me which sensor is faulted, and this could be the case on your Volvo as well. Have the codes scanned at AutoZone (it's free, vs paying labor at a dealership) and post the resulting codes (if any) in another post here. From there, we can likely figure out the problem. Also, check to make sure you have enough brake fluid - if you're low, it could cause a malfunction in the ABS system.
