I had a similar ongoing problem with my 1999 GMC Suburban C1500, it occurred only in the hottest days of the Texas summer. In addition to not starting, the truck sometimes exhibited symptoms of misfiring while driving at highway speeds, as if the engine seized or as if there no fuel being delivered to fire.
I found a small garage mechanic who swore he could fix it after years of taking it to the dealer and other franchise repair shops and getting the same answer "we can't find anything it like you described, it won't do it while we're testing it, bring it in right away so we can get the history codes....blah, blah, blah". I always thought it was due to an intermittent electrical grounding issue. Anyway, long story short, the small garage mechanic was guessing a lot of the time, but after changing the fuel pump, the sending unit, fuel injection system and many return trips to the garage with me saying 'that wasn't it, it's still doing it" it finally turned out to be a faulty wiring connector link in the harness assembly ABOVE the FUEL TANK that came from the pump or sending unit. When it got hot the link would melt and create a short, when it cooled a bit it would still conduct. We replaced the wiring connector and 4 years worth of unexplainable intermittent starting problems disappeared. I spent $2K to $3K over the years, when it finally turned out to be a hidden $12 wiring connector.
Good Luck.

Could you give more detail as to what it's doing exactly? Is it having a hard time cranking the engine or does the engine crank but not want to get started?

Get those new codes, sure sounds like a MAF issue, also I have run across engine movement stalls, they turned out to be a break indside the engine harness, when the engine moved it would break the connection and stall or run really bad, I found these kinds of problems by pulling and twisting the harness to the engine, then I would cut it open and do the same thing wire by wire.

Hi
Did you mean oil light ?
If so.... have you checked your engine oil level ?
If this is a diesel, perhaps you mean the cold start glow plugs light ?
If this light does not go out, the problem is in this department, normally fuse or the relay.
If it is really cold, this is why the engine will not start, as the glow plugs are not functioning.
Good Luck !
Don´t forget to give me a FixYa rating, almost a Guru !

SOURCE: Engine won't start. Dash lights flash rapidly when key turned.
the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck
