It sounds like you have lost first gear in your transmission. I have a 93 Grand Cherokee and recently suffered the same problem. The problem is most likely in the transmission valve body. You should stop driving the vehicle immediately to prevent doing more damage to the rest of the transmission. Sounds like you will most likely need a rebuild

If you drop it into 2nd or third does it work any better? Now i noticed you said your issue is with the lower speeds. I would assume you are havig a tranmission issue. My first thought is you have lost first. But you can take it to a tranmission shop to get a diagnosis, usually for free. they can do a drive test and have a better idea. what ever you do, dont let them put it on a lift to to diagnose and inspect it. There are labor cost involved with that and unless you are prepared to pay a couple of hundreds of dollars, just have them do the drive test.
