Now sometimes i could move the sifter down to1st gear it would work and some times it wont
Run the fault codes to determine if the electronics are working correctly. TCM servos and solenoids. Change the oil and filter and while the pan is off check the band and clutch pack adjustment. Have a pressure test done on the box to check for internal problems.

you have a valve body problem, some of the speed sonsor controls are malfunctioning... need to get into the valve body... check fluid condition for dirty and burned condition...

It sounds like your input clutch seals are rolling. Is the check engine light on. It could also be the pressure control solenoid could be causing the problem aswell

if your close or over 100,000 miles, better to have the tranny rebuilt.

Check the shift rods for binding, also check the hole ends, are the bushings bad? Hope this helps, let me know

If reverse is ok then you have a bad shift solenoid b.There are two solenoids on the back of the valve body that are identical,it will be the one on the pasenger side.GM calls them the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoid but this is deceptive because it takes a combination of them being on or off to achieve every gear.Pull the pan, disconnect solenoids and check resistance across them with a volt meter.I think you are looking for less than 20 ohms but the bad one will be off the chart.Bad transmission controllers are very rare in a GM vehicle.I bet if you have codes pulled you will find a shift solenoid code.Good luck!
