Bleed the air out of the fuel system . crack the injector nuts and turn over until fuel drips out .re-tension the injector nuts . Check that the stop solenoid is operational. Ensure that the battery is fully charged as the diesel has to spin fast during cranking . Ensure that the glo-plugs are working especially if the ambient temp is low.

SOURCE: getting fuel, won' start

1. Check if you are getting spark from the distributor cap, if no, go to #2.
2. Check if you are getting spark from the ignition coil, if no, go to #3. If yes, your distributor cap is worn out.
3. Check if you are getting voltage to the coil, if no, it could be the ignition control unit that is faulty. If yes, your ignition coil is faulty.

SOURCE: I have a 1998 Mercedes

First you need to see if the remote central locking is working. It sounds like your transponder(key) is un synchronized. Even if the central locking is working there is a d.a.s.(driver authorization problem). Try your other key if you have one. There is a way to resynch the key w/o a factory scan tool but you have to follow the directions exactly and be quick. Point key at door receptor.( grab handle area) Hold the lock button down and press the unlock button 5 times in 10 seconds while holding down the lock button. hold the lock button down the entire 10 seconds even if you've hit the button 5 times. after the 10 seconds is up release and hit the lock button again. The d.a.s. system shuts off your fuel pump when their is an authorization error. It is a common problem in 98 and 99 ml's. Your owner's manual tells you how to resynch the key if my description is difficult to follow. Hopefully I have been helpful

SOURCE: 2001 mercedes cl500 wont start...cranks but wont

Open the air cleaner or intake hose and while someone is turning it over spray some ether into it with no more than three second bursts. If it cranks then you have a problem with fuel delivery and if it doesnt you are looking at something with the spark or ignition.

2006 Mercedes Benz CLS500. It turns off after ten minutes every time and won't start until 15 minutes afterwards.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

You need a local mobile auto electrician with a $5,000 pro grade scan tool computer. They can diagnose static issues but can also record exactly what happens to make the car shut off after 10 minutes and what happens 15 minutes later to make it start again. You can't guess issues like this on a car with so many computer modules and sensors.

Car turns over but won't start when hot and gives no codes

if a mercedes

Check the Fuel Pump Relay. behind the battery next to the OVP Over Voltage Protection Relay. They do fail. Occasionally the engine will not start when hot. This becomes more frequent until you are left stranded. If you are comfortable with jumping two terminals you can jump terminals 7 & 8 test the relay. if the car starts your Fuel pump relay is bad.

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

this might well be the air flow valve it is located in the intake duct work. this works to control the air flow to your motor to optimize volumetric efficiency. when these stick its chiking out the motor this is a good place to start

Your coolant sensor may be stuck in advanced timing mode. Change it & the engine will start easy in cold & warm weather. The sensor is located near the thermostat housing. Remove the electrical connector & unscrew the sensor. Replace but do not over tighten, 5ft. lbs. Top off any antifreese loss. Good luck!
