I have a 2010 Camry and wtih a wireless remote key but not a smart key. Last night when my car was in my drive way, 3 times wtihin 3 hours, the panic mode started. When I locked/unlocked the vehicle with the remote, it would stop. What could be causing this?
BAD FOB?
or battery weak in fob?. replace them?
always have 2 fobs, so you can isolate problems and not get stranded.
is running engine charge lamp out?
or the button on the fob, panic, is bad,
to prove this take the battery out of FOB in use
and use the spare fob with fresh battery.
this proves its the fob, see how?
Testimonial: "Thank you for the info and I was planning on checking the battery today but so far, parked at work, the panic alarm has not gone off at all...I have a backup key but not a backup FOB, good idea...Thank you for responding!"
your welcome, always have 1 spare Full fob. some cars if your own fob dies, only the dealer can correct this. or even worse.$$$ get a new fob and clone it using the operators guide. see link here

SOURCE: Car Alarm
sounds like the drivers side key switch has failed remove the interior door panel and there will be a switch attached to the back of the key lock cylinder or around there it should be two or three wires also check the door jamb wire harness where the door closes for any broken or damaged wires, use a vot meter and see if you get power or ground to the opposite side of the switch when you use the key to lock and unlock the door if nothing changes and there is power or ground! at this switch i would replace it, i don't think there is one but if the car has a passenger side key hole try to unlock the car from that side and see if you get the same problem -jeff

I had the same problem with my '05 GMC Canyon. It turned out that the ignition switch was shorting out on me. Once they replaced that, no more trouble.

If car Convenience Control Module(module that control key remote) lose power- remote adaptation to the car will be lost. This apply to some Audi models.
What you can try to do is:
1. Disarm alarm manually by opening door lock with the key
2. Put key into ignition and turn to on position (don't start the car)
3. Press few times remote button (with the ignition in on position)
Depends on your year model it my work (works on the newer models), if not you have to go to the dealership to program your keys.
Good luck!

I am having this same issue with my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan , I had it towed to the local Dodge Dealership. They just told me that it is the Wireless Control Module and it is going to cost $461.00 to replace it.
