If this is a cable driven speedo, need to lubricate cable.

No. Check to see if there are any loose wires - vacuum, plug, coil, etc. Check the distributor cap to see if it is in good condition. Listen for sounds of a vacuum leak.It could be a number of things that will only cause major problems for you out on the road.

The speed sensor might be bad. I used to own a 99 Mitsubishi Eclipse with the same symptons. The car will start, but will not pass the 1st or 2nd gear, the speedometer will be at 0. I replaced the speed sensor and all the problems went away.

Gauges in 92 camaro rs stopped working

Remove it..Probably installed incorrectly . Tach is probably incorrectly wired into the distributor harness and effecting rpm voltage to the speedometer and may possibly blown the voltage regulator to the gauge in the dash.

The speedometer gauge and RPM gauge is not working. The speedometer gauge goes to the max while I am driving. The car itself seems to be running ok. Help! It is a Yukon Denali 2005.

I suspect that your sender is malfunctioning. Todays speedometers and RPM is sent from a sensor/sender near the drive shaft. A magnet on the drive shaft is sensed and the revolutions are converted to RPM and speed.
