A tube coming off catalytic convertor

There's a tube coming off the catalytic convertor that look's like a hose or something should be attached to it. It sounds like a real bad vacuum leak and it causes loss of power to the motor when you accelerate. I'm not sure what this is or what it may go to. The truck is a 98 S-10 Ext cab and it had a different motor put in when it was bought. Is there a
chance something was left off?

Sounds like you're missing an O2 sensor that would be cause for a leak seeing as there usually a sensor there plugging the hole. Get one and put it in there plug it in if the harness is still there. Power loss can be associated with alot of things, but O2 sensors give the cpu readings that directly affect the fuel air mixture. If there's no sensor the mix can be too rich or lean causing loss of power as well. I dont own an s10 but that sounds like the issue to me.

While i was changing my egr valve i seen a short hose that didnt go to anything on firewall apprx one inch long no place for it to attach what is this and where does it go??

if it was poking out of the firewall from inside, it may be a drain hose from the ac ductwork inside the car which allows condensate water to drain when ac is on(you see asmall puddle of water under the car in summer when parked) its normal

The Oxygen Sensors (O2S) are attached to, and protrude into the vehicle exhaust system. Depending on the emission package, the vehicle may use a total of either 2 or 4 sensors.

Federal Emissions Package (4.0L and 4.7L engines):
Two sensors are used: upstream (referred to as 1/1) and downstream (referred to as 1/2). With this emission package, the upstream sensor (1/1) is located just before the main catalytic convertor. The downstream sensor (1/2) is located just after the main catalytic convertor.


California Emissions Package (4.0L engine):
On this emissions package, 4 sensors are used: 2 upstream (referred to as 1/1 and 2/1) and 2 downstream (referred to as 1/2 and 2/2). With this emission package, the rear/upper upstream sensor (2/1) is located in the exhaust downpipe just before the rear mini-catalytic convertor. The front/upper upstream sensor (1/1) is located in the exhaust downpipe just before the front mini-catalytic convertor. The rear/lower downstream sensor (2/2) is located in the exhaust downpipe just after the rear mini-catalytic convertor, and before the main catalytic convertor. The computer show's 02 sensor bank 2 stuck and to lean, which one is it their are 4 of them on this truck

bank 1 sensor 1 is driver side exhaust pipe in front of catalytic converter, bank 1 sensor 2 is drivers side exhaust pipe behind catalytic converter, bank 2 sensor 1 is passenger side exhaust pipe in front of catalytic converter, bank 2 sensor 2 is passenger side exhaust pipe behind catalytic converter.

When i started my 2006 rav 4 this morning these lights came on and are still on, brake light,4wd light, ABS, VSC LIGHT?

If you had your foot on the brake while starting brake light could come on. If a catalytic convertor does not pass at startup (possibly ox sensor or whole convertor) then the computor turns 4wd vsc and check engine light on. note the six cylinder has three catalytic convertors and the four cylinder has two. Very expensive if convertor(s)

02 sensor where does it go can't seem to find it in the engine

O2 sensor is right after your exhaust catalytic convertor. Open the hood of your car and look right infront of the engine. O2 sensors are not on the engine. They are on the pipe that comes out of the front of the engine. They are right within your reach. It has pig tail wire. Looks like a cylinder. There are two of them. One before catalytic convertor and one right after catalytic convertor.
Like I said catalytic convertor sits right in front of the engine right after your radiator. Looks like a big cylinder.

Tube coming off convertor

Possibly a choke "riser"...disregard...or better yet have a muffler shop weld a patch over the hole ($40)
