P0455 is a EVAP system leak detected code check to make sure your gas cap is tight or if you put gas in it while it was running and can set it . First tighten the gas cap then clear the code and drive and see if the code comes back.

Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:

  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

P0038 typically indicates O2 sensor failure or possible grounding out if the cabling to it has failed. Start with that as it is easier to replace than all the plugs/coils etc. Reset the code and cross your fingers.

Where is the camshaft position sensor on a 1998 Dodge Dakota 5.2L

The camshaft position sensor is located on the distributor for all engines designed for the 1998 Dodge Dakota. Accessing the sensor requires removing the distributor cap and the distributor rotor. The camshaft sensor pigtail comes through the front of the distributor and connects to the engine wiring harness above the intake manifold.

The malfunction indicator light is on in my dodge dakota, what should i do?

Locate an auto part store that will do a free scan of the OBD-II system for any DTC's (Data Trouble Codes) and be certain to write any DTC's down correctly, and then by using the DTC(s) a proper diagnosis for the problem can be determined.

Dodge Dakota 2006 V6 quad cab - check engine light came on when I turned on the ignition. Where is the connector for the DB-II reader?

All OBD-2 connectors from 1996 on, have to be under the dash, on the drivers side, usually to the right, and easily accessible. You should be able to feel it, without getting your head down there, every time looking for it.
