Sounds like a spark problem, such as a cam/crank sensor, coil pack etc.

SOURCE: I have a Saturn L200.

I'm experiencing the same things with my '03 l200. My mechanic replaced the fuel pump about 3 times before finally telling me it was the body control module. It will cost me about $260. On top of the problems you mentioned, my car also doesn't register miles in the odometer, and the dashboard lights flicker. He said all this was because of the faulty body control module.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel pump located on a 2001 Saturn

you have to remove the gas tank you have to remove the exhaust pipes to get to the gas tank the best way to get to it is to put the car on a lift once you remove the tank you will see it on top it is one piece connected to the fuel gauge and the entire thing is inserted on the top side it is hard to get to because there is no access panel under the back seat like in japanese cars it is a pretty costly item too, good luck

SOURCE: I need to replace the fuel pump on my 2001 Saturn

Fuel Pump REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 1.9L Engine To prevent excessive fuel spillage, whenever the tank is removed from the vehicle it should be no more than 1?2 full. Removal of the fuel pump module assembly requires the removal of the fuel tank.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Fuel feed and return lines from the filter/pressure regulator
    • Fuel pump vapor line from the fuel tank vent pipe
    • Fuel pump module retaining ring with service tool SA9156E. A 1?2 inch breaker bar will loosen the lockring
NOTE: To prevent bending of the sending unit float arm, lift the pump module up slightly to disengage the orientation tabs in the tank. Rotate the module 90 degrees clockwise until the fuel lines are facing the 1 o'clock position.
    • Fuel pump module from the fuel tank until the bottom of the pump module is close to the fuel tank opening
    • Tilt the pump module approximately 45 degrees to the right hand side of the tank and lift the pump from the fuel tank
    • Fuel pump to tank seal and discard it
    To install:
  4. Install or connect the following:
    • Fuel pump module into the fuel tank by orientating the float to face the right side and tilting the module approximately 45 degrees
    • Fuel pump into the tank and rotate the assembly 90 degrees counterclockwise to align the module tabs with the slots in the tank
NOTE: The fuel pump retaining ring cannot be properly installed if the flange locator tabs are not aligned with the slots in the fuel tank.
    • Retaining lockring with tool SA9156E
    • Vapor line to the fuel tank vent pipe
    • Fuel feed and return lines to the filter/pressure regulator
    • Fuel feed, return and EVAP canister purge line in the fuel tank retaining clip
    • Fuel tank
    • Negative battery cable
  5. Start the vehicle and check for leaks, repair if necessary.

2001 Saturn L-series Fuel gauge shows empty when tank is full

I had similar problem on my 2001 L200. Found that problem was carbon build up on sending unit in gas tank. Added 1bottle of Lucas Oil Deep Clean Fuel System Cleaner to full tank of gas. Problem solved. I would try this first I could save you a bunch of money.

2003 saturn l200 fuel pump

You have your answer in your title...the fuel pump. For replacement directions, you're better off obtaining a Hayne's Repair Manual from AutoZone. They go into great detail in that area.

My 2001 saturn L200. series will not stay running i just had to put in a new motor, a whole new fuel pump assembly, fuel filiter, and cat converter, i love this cat but after driving it for a while it jsut...

Sounds like a ground issue...Check your battery post and ground wires..Also could be vapor locked..Next time it stalls loosen your gas cap...If you here air suction going back into your car and if starts up that could be the problem..Your vapor canister is clogged causing the pressure in your gas tank to become greater than your gas pump...Then the car shuts off until the pressure in gas tank goes back down..

My o1 saturn had a loose pos cable, after I tightened it carged the battery , now it cranks but wont start. the fuel gauge said it was empty added five gallons still nothing.

if the tank was completly emptyyou will need to turn the key on without cranking it several times befor trying to start so it can load the fuel lines and injectors.if that doesn't work.you'll need to change the inline fuel filter because it probaly sucked allthe trash up at the bottom of your tank.make sure you hear a slight humming niose when turning the key the 1'st few times that tells you the fuel pump itself is working.hope this helps please rate this.thank's
