1994 cherokee jeep

It is on the driver's side of engine, mounted onto the intake manifold-right in the middle of the manifold, but on the side. It has a removeable metal tube on it coming from the exhaust manifold.

With the egr valve, there may be an attached "egr valve vacuum transducer"-a little device only there to increase or decrease the vacuum signal to egr valve, based on the amount of back-pressure in the exhaust. The transducer valve has a vacuum hose from the engine, a hose from transducer to the egr valve, then another hose from bottom of transducer valve to monitor exhaust backpressure. Do not worry about the transducer valve when servicing the egr valve.

2001 rodeo I have p0401 code help

EGR. Faulty sensor, Tube blocked with carbon, Faulty EGR valve, or Lack of vacuum to operate are most common causes. I'd check vacuum, etc, before replacing EGR right off the bat.

Code 71

it's a fault witht he EGR system, could be the EGR valve EGR Vacuum Modulator, or according to some information I have found the MAF sensor, could also be something as simple as a broken vacuum line

CODE P0401 COMEING UP

I had an OBD II 401 code and fixed it by cleaning out the EGR vacuum line in the intake manifold. I removed teh EGR Valve and the set screw below it. i used a rifle cleaning brush and one length of the rod. Then I replaced teh set screw. I started teh engind and let the vacuum **** some carb cleaner through the front port hole. when it was sucking good I replaced teh EGR valve and reset the codes. That fixed it.8_26_2012_9_39_13_pm.jpg

Cant get idle speed to come down

your idle speed is controled by the computer on this car. so yo could have a variaty of things going on here. but i am willing to bet you have a leak some were on the intake to see if it is your intake gaskets wich is common on newer cars you can buy a can of brake cleaner and start the car and spray it on the out side of the intake. but be carefull not to get any electronics or the throttel cabel with the cleaner. if your intake gasket is leaking you will hear a drop in the engine Rpm.

1994 Sonoma just threw a code 32 EGR Valve do you have a diagram of the motor or can you tell me where it is located?

Your EGR valve is located behind your throttle body and injectors, and it is attached to the intake manifold. It has two bolts on opposite sides of the valve and a vacuum line running out of it. Disconnect the vacuum line, remove the two bolts, and pull off the EGR valve. The EGR's on these trucks tend to get clogged up with carbon and stick. Take some carb and choke cleaner, and a small pick or very small flat head screw driver and break up the carbon inside of the valve. Be careful not to puncture the rubber diaphragm or you EGR will be no good after you get done cleaning it. Once you get all of the carbon deposits out of the EGR, assuming you buy a new gasket for it, put the gasket between the valve and intake manifold, tighten screws, and plug the vacuum line back in. This should solve your problem!

Timing
1. With transmission in Neutral or park, start engine and warm to normal operating temp. turn eng,and all accessories off. connect Tachometer. Connect timing light to no 1 spark plug wire.

2. Disconnect and plug fuel vapor canister purge hose and EGR vacuum hose. Start and ensure idle is 900 RPM. adjust idle as required. Check ignition timing ( 12 @ 900)

3. If adjustment is required, loosen distributor hold down bolt and turn until timing is within specification. Tighten distributor hold down bolt and recheck timing. adjust idle speed as required.

hope this helps

Cheers
