Blowing fuse f16 - 1998 Jeep Wrangler

The cigarette lighter fuse is a 15a fuse in socket F16 under the dashboard to the right of the steering column.

ARE YOU IN THE USA?
did you turn the keyon?
plugged in the cab OBD2 16pin dash connector .?
this connecter DLC ,on pin 16 must be at 12vdc or the tool will not work. (key on)
this pin is fused, so if fuse blows, tool is dead.

code readers, they are mostly useless.
but if compelled to use a tool that only sees 1/100th of the data. sure.

and were sold from 1995 to now
and the old tools do no work on new cars, 2004+(about) (I one many scanners from all years)

our car, (usa fed laws) uses the newer Can-bus.
and that means you tool must be Can-bus certified.
(can bus uses special pins)
pin 6 and 14 must be present on the tool and working. or tool will be DEAD.

Sounds like fuel pump worn and drawing more amps under loaf, find hot wire to pump and amp test. Shoul be between 7 to 17 amps any more and pump due to fail soon. Good luck.

If your airconditioner is running hot, check that the flap door is opening, and check the refridgerent level, if low, no cold.

Inside the engine compartment, behind your battery is the fuse box. Open your plastic cover and on the underside you will see the fuse schematic. Look for F16. That is the fuse for your left head lamp. 20 amp yellow fuse.

I would start with the fuses for the turn indicators & the stop lamps

The fuses ( full route ) shown is :

F102 -> Ign switch ( hot in run position ) -> to F13 & F16 ( F16 goes to the BPP / Brake Pedal Position Switch for the shift interlock )
F2 ( hot at all times ) to flasher & to BPP Switch.
