Wouldn't start at first and when it did I couldn't get out of gear so I took cover off shifter and switched gear and backed out of driveway and it died so I went and replaced battery and same thing happened again. Now lights flash when key turns on but car won't start

It turned out the ground wire to the battery was loose, Evidently, it loosened up when driving so mimiced the earlier symptoms because it connection was sporadic. I hooked up to a computer to verify after connection tightened and it came away with no errors or problems.

Hello, there can be a couple things that might be of concern. Is it the 3.4 or 3.8L engine? While driving, does it feel like the transmission is shifting properly? If it feels like it jerks after a slight delay, its poss it may have a Mass Air Flow sensor that is failing. This sometimes sets a code, turning the check engine light on. With the 3.4 engine, there are 2 sensors that control spark and fuel. The first is the camshaft sensor, located just below the power steering pump, and can cause this concern. There is also a crankshaft sensor that is behind the harmonic balancer, may be at fault. The 3.8 engine also has similar sensors that could be the problem. You described that after it cools slightly that it will restart. This is a fairly easy condition for a good repair shop to diag. They will need to hook up a scanner and let what we call a "Heat soak" the engine to duplicate your concern. When the engine stalls, they can run a couple test to isolate the concern. An easy fix or repair for a Reputable shop.

I had the same problem with my Odometer in my 01' Regal. The dealer will quote you some outrageous price for a new instrument cluster. There are a bunch of people on Ebay that you can pay around $100 and they will repair it for you. Or, if your husband is pretty handy you can fix it yourself for about $2.00. All you need is a pack of resistors from RadioShack and soldering gun. I did it myself and with this videos instruction it only took me a little under an hour and $12.00.
As for the service light, I don't know what you had repaired, but to get mine off I had to get a dealer to reset the computer (about $100 or so).
