SOURCE: new starter but car wont start

funny...you have just told me what is wrong with it!!!
check power in, power out at the ignition switch...likely it has failed. switch is on the top of the steering column under the dash and is sometimes easier to reach if you disconnect the column from the dash and permit the sterering wheel to rest on the seat.

SOURCE: Changed ignition key switch in my 1996 Olds

Your passlock system needs to be programed to the new lock cylinder, try leving the key on for 10 minutes to reset the system, then try to start is, this system is nothing but trouble, there is a way to bypass that system, it's on the internet.
good luck

SOURCE: Daughter called me ..car wont

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

Why won't my car start?

Run diagnostics on the "old car". You can still access possible trouble codes through the key switch, and have 2 digit trouble codes flash out from the check engine light. Here, for the procedure: http://www.2carpros.com/articles/retrieve-trouble-codes-for-chrysler-dodge-plymouth-odb1-1995-and-earlier-car-mini-van-and-light-trucks

Beyond that, it is basic diagnostics. Check fuel pressure, check for gas and spark at the cylinders. Test the fuel injection circuit.Test the ignition coil. Test sensors for proper operation. A mechanic with a multi-meter can do a ton of diagnostics. I don't get it, does your mechanic only work on new cars?.

1995 Chrysler starts up fine but after driving it and shutting off ignition, it will not restart until it has set for about an hour I have replaced the water pump, upper intake gasket, front left injector,...

Does it happen when its damp outside? I have that problem and I had a friend hotwire the computer with a small roach clip. My car will actually die while it is running if damp and not even start with a jump..with the roach clip thing, you just have someone touch the positive and boom, starts right up!!! Super gerry rig, but it works, every time.

Start up and die

If it will eventually start and run, I would check the fuel pressure at startup. The fuel pump relay provides power to the pump for 3 or 4 seconds and if the computer does not "see" oil pressure it will not continue to power the pump. That is to prevent a fire in a wreck.

On a 1997 chrysler L.H.S. dash gauges don't work. not even the speed meter.

Had the same problem with my 1997 lhs went to the wrecking yard and picked up a speedometer head only also can be found on e-bay.Price is about 35.00 dollars It fixed the problem right away.Very easy to switch out took about 1 half hour to do. 1996-1997 will fit. It sure is nice to have everything work again.

95 chrysler starts, runs for 5 seconds and shut off. Gauges don't work

I suggest that you go to ALLDATA.COM and take out a subscription for ALLDATADIY, this access can give you unlimited knowledge about your vehicle. I have a repair manuel also between the two reference media I have solved most of the problems you are facing. Not to mention the problems you will be facing with a vehicle this old.

All gauges..gas,speedometer,temp,odometor...won't work.

the problem might be in the ignition switch(not where the key goes) but what the key switch is connected to. just try this first, when the gagues stop working, hit the steering column behind the key switch and if the gagues start working then replace the ignition switch
