My clutch will not depress

I started my car.. going into 1st... pedal was stuck on the floor. Pulled pedal up.. tried to depress, it felt like something was blocking the pedal. like i could feel something spinning but smacking back against the pedal as i pushed.. like if you were to stick something in a fan. I turned the car off to try again but now I cannot get the pedal to move.

2001 Camry 5 speed. It starts but it will not move. I can change gears without pushing in clutch. One mechanic said it was clutch and a different one said transmission is out. Which is it?

The clutch is not transferring power to the gearbox, which then is not turning, so that you can select gears without the clutch.Possibilities are
- clutch assembly has failed, possibly by the splined driven plate hub coming adrift
- clutch driven plate has become very worn and has lost contact
- slave cylinder has stuck through corrosion (assuming a hydraulic clutch) and is holding out the clutch independent of the pedal. This can be determined by watching it while someone depresses and raises the pedal.

I think it is unlikely the transmission input shaft has fractured.

After sitting for 10 days, clutch is stuck. at first it depressed to the floor and stuck. then I pulled it back, now it won't depress.

check all the linkage to the pedal, if it looks good you will need to pull the trans to check the clutch assembly and through out bearing and the sleeve it rides on

Transmission stuck

Clutch hydraulics has air in it or the clutch master cylinder is failing.

1996 nissan maxima clutch squeals pedal stuck to floor

Sound like you're going to need a whole new clutch assembly, but if the fluid level was dry you may have sucked air into the system which means that the clutch will have to be bled at the slave cylinder, just like you would brakes. The squealing sound is coming from the throw out bearing, usually when the do that it means that the bearing is frozen and cannot spin. Either way it looks like you'll be dropping the transmission to work on the clutch.

Clutch pedal straight to floor

If you put the trans in neutral and depress the clutch pedal it should still start.
The clutch is hydraulic, so there should be something connecting the pedal to the master cyl and the slave cyl to the clutch disk.

My wifes 2.4L PT Cruiser broke down today on the way up a large incline. She says as she drove in 5th gear with the gas consistlently down the clutch seemed to go out as it felt like she had dropped into...

Unfortunately, and I don't like saying this in the least, the problem is going to be the transmission leading to other issues. Your going to have to have the transmission repaired.
