I understand the meaning of OHM's in the specification but would like to understand the meaning of watts if in case i plan to alter it.

I just replaced my blown sub in my Avalon xls with a Kicker 07C84 and it works great. For the same price of a repair kit, you can just buy this new speaker. Why go through the hassle of repairing a 9 year old speaker. This speaker fits into the same cutout of the old speaker. All I did was splice the red and black wires within the factory plastic housing so I could still use the factory connector.

Www.SimplySpeakers.com sells an easy to install repair kit for around $25 or they repair the 86160 speaker for $40 plus return UPS shipping. Much cheaper than Toyota's price of around $300.

I had the same blown speaker and was not able to find a suitable replacement other than the factory replacement which is way too expensive. I had my original one repaired locally by Speaker Works in Tulsa OK. 2 days and $45 later it works great, that was two years ago. Maybe you have this type of repair shop where you are. Getting the speaker in and out was a bit of a challenge but it can be done.

Whatts is the amount of power output the speaker has in your case a max rating of 25 wats at 3.7 ohms of resistance threw the speaker coil. Some speaker's have a higher rating for instance 4 ohms at 25 watts or 8 ohms at 25 watts, all you have to do is get a speaker close to the 3.7 ohms and rated at least 25 watts or more, this will insure close to same sound performance on the speaker. And won't harm the amp or stereo system, so if you found a 4 ohm speaker at 50 watts it would be ok and iff you could find a 100 watts at 4 ohms it would still be ok. it is withing range of the amp plus or minus .3 ohms.

I paid $100 to a place called Winston Electronics to remove, repair, and replace the JBL woofer on my 2001 Avalon XLS. It was twice as expensive as to take it out and put it back in myself, but I'm not handy like that, and might have messed something up. If you're in the St. Louis area, you can find them at: http://www.winstonorgan.com/

I have a 1951 Ford car, 3 speed manual, duel exhausts.I want to install overdrive trans but may not have room for the solonid. Do you know the length of the solonid. I can't find that info. Thanks

Fitting an overdrive transmission isn't exactly straightforward. There were two types in common use back then; a Laycock that was often manually selected and the Borg Warner type which was electrically selected.
In both cases the transmission was considerably longer than the standard type requiring a shortened propshaft and in addition models with overdrive fitted often had a slightly different final drive ratio (lower) and a transmission with closer ratios which meant a higher first gear ratio - hence the lower final drive ratio.

From memory the solenoid protruded around 3 inches from the main transmission case, though the tailshaft was considerably longer.

My sub woofer stopped working, please tell me where it is located so i can check the speaker and also check if power is going to it thank you very much joe

The JBL premium sound system has a large woofer in the bottom of each door, a small mid-range speaker next to the woofer, & tweeters next to the front door windows in the corner, & two full-range speakers near the rear seats. The woofer (not sub-woofer) handles all the low end. You can test the woofer by turning the BASS to max and TREBLE to minimum (make sure balance and fader are centered) and put your ear next to each woofer.
The woofer is usually the 1st speaker to have problems after 10 years or so. The outer edge of the woofer starts to degrade. You will usually hear a rattling sound out of the woofer when this happens.
NOTE: If no sound at all out of the woofer (tweeters are OK), you might take your car into a car stereo shop. They can put a speaker on the wires connected to the speaker and make sure your problem is not the radio.
PROBLEM: You can still hear sound out of the woofers but it is distorted
SOLUTION 1: Go to a car audio shop and have them install new woofers. These may cost $30+ each but the dealer cost is over $200 for each woofer (crazy).
SOLUTION 2: More involved but very cost effective. If you or a friend is handy, you can go to www.speakerworks.com and order a new set of speaker outer rings (on the site they are called speaker SURROUND) that will replace the damaged outer rings on the woofers (replace on both woofers). They really work great and your speakers should last for many more years.
Hope this helps.

No tails on 2003 Envoy fuse is good

There are several things that could be the problem, but first, I would have to know EXACTLY what IS working and what IS NOT working to isolate the problem.
1. Is it just your rear park (or running) lamps not working? One side? or Both sides? (they have separate fuses.)
2. Are the FRONT park lamps working? (Again, separate fuse, but powered by the same MAIN feed.)
3. Are your Brake and Turn signals working? One side? Both sides? Front AND Rear for turn signals?
4. Have you tried changing bulbs already? (It IS possible to have two blown bulbs at the same time)

Get back to me with this information and I will try to isolate the possibilities for you.

pop the speaker grills out by using a small screwdriver, be easy don't want to ruin the grills, three or four screws should be holding each speaker, unscrew, pull out gently, for the side speakers, then disconnect speaker wires, for the rear speakers if you have woofers, the woofer pulls out from the trunk side, disconnect speaker wires before taking the woofers out.
when your ready to put new speakers in reverse the process.
