what cap was dropped? the oil fill cap or a cap from a quart of oil, if its the filler cap you will have to look around the engine area, it can hide in many spots so look closely, try to push it so it falls to ground, if it an oil cap from a quart of oil and is in the valve cover then try a grab rod, this is a long tool that open at the bottom and you control from the top and you grab the cap and pull it out, if that fails to work then valve cover will need to be removed, heres a picture of the tool and its called a spring claw, good luck.hope this helps.
sounds like the switch has stuck in the fuel cap...
clean around inside the fuel cap housing, use some wd40 on a cloth to get the gunk out of the nooks and crannies then operate the cap opener lever lots of times and open and close the cap lots of time to loosen up the mechanism, then clean it out again with wd40 - should work properly again now.
open rad cap when engine is ice cold start it up and stay with it until you see all the air burpes come up and when cooling fans cut in you got it shut of replace cap check level in morning when cold and you should have heat.Question why did you change coolant to begin with?
