Question about Volkswagen Cabrio
My 95 Cabrio starts fine, but when put in reverse sputters and dies. If it doesn't die and I can release brake fast enough it jerks backwards quite quickly. Then I can put in neutral and it will run fine. Usually going into drive is okay, maybe minor sputter. It also is very sluggish when accelerating. Have only had car for few months and had tune-up done when we bought it. The reverse problem does seem a little intermittent and may not be there at all after car has ran for more than 20-30 min.
There should be a vacuum line to your tranny that's not sealed right, check that out

Most Likely a vacume leak. Check the engine and surrounding engine bay for a loose hose. I would check the mass air sensor, make sure it is free of debries.
