Lighter won't work on mini cooper S

My lighter sparked a lot a few weeks ago because a dime fell into the hole. Since then (after taking the dime out) it will not work anymore.
I checked the fuse box and all of the fuses are fine. What now?

Mini Cooper s 2013 cig lighter not working after a penny fell in it

Check your fuse for the lighter. It most likely shorted out and blew the fuse.

Mini Cooper water retension

Can you hear water sloshing around whenever you take a corner in your mini?

A common problem in the new mini is dirt and grime build up clogging the drain holes in the hatchback door (and the boot door on the convertible)
It is quite simple to clean these plugged drain holes. They are rectangle shape about 1/8 by 1/4 inch and there are two of them along the bottom of the door just on the edge of the seam. Clean out using a soft plastic tool. I use a discarded tie-wrap or even a few stiff broom bristles. Don't use wire as it could scratch paint and promote corrosion.

Keep these drain holes clean and prolong the life of your mini.

I feel stupid knowing it took me a week to figure out where that splashing water sound was coming from!

I have a mini cooper 2007 model and the 12v cigar lighter plug does not work

The lighters element can be burnt out. Look closely and see if there is an open in the spiral metal. If not the case the element plugs into is at fault instead

AC drain for my 2005 mini cooper

Clear out the drain tube. May be able to do it with a coat hanger, or get someone to blow it out with some shop air.

Mini Cooper convertible is overheating, fan contiues after stop

I had this exact same problem -- for about a year and a half! Replaced thermostat, replaced sensor twice, replaced overflow tank, replaced radiator cap, placed a grounding kit on the car in case the problem was electrical ... and was ABOUT to replace thermostat again and then the water pump when a new mechanic suggested we bleed air out of the cooling system. The heater core was PACKED with air, as was the upper hose valve area. Previous mechanic had been using a pressurized fill device to bleed the system and this had just been backing air into the heater core. There are two valves under the hood for bleeding air -- one on the heater core and one on the upper hose. It only takes a few minutes to fix this!

Mini Cooper convertible is overheating, fan contiues after stop

I had the same problem two weeks ago. I have a 2006 Mini Cooper. Brought it into the shop. They changed out the themostat (under warranty). The service advisor said that the 2005 and 2006 Mini's had a problem with the themostat's.

Good luck.
