You may be right in that the brakes are applied.
The ABS would need to be checked for trouble codes to proceed.
You could also lift one wheel at a time to see if the brakes are on.
check brakes as sensors for anti lock brakes will start flashing and and doing things when brakes less than 25% if not that it is probably the abs sensor
ABS is short for anti-lock braking system. This is a separate system from your hydraulic brakes. The abs light means the system has a problem and it is disabled until you fix it. The regular brakes still work as you know. Someone needs to scan the computer for ABS trouble codes and go from there.
Hi:
The ABS light on means an ABS malfunction. You should be able to have a auto parts store scan your car and find out what code is tripped, for free, but my guess is that one of your front wheel speed sensors is out of whack, or dirty or something.
When the light is on, your normal brakes work fine, but you have no ABS, so your car will take longer to stop in emergency situations.
The ABS light is telling you that the anti locking part of your brakes is not working, the brakes will still function like non ABS brakes. Check all of the brakes to make sure the electricalconnection is still in place, every time I've had this happen one had came up plugged.
