1994 auto lancer 4g15 won't idle

Can get started and by keeping the revs up it sounds ok, but when I back off the accelerator it dies. Have even tried taking it for a drive till it gets to temp. Drives fine until I get to an intersection, but still will not idle when stopped. (in either drive or park)

Had that problem on my camaro. turned out to be a crank sensor on mine. also theres a small actuating valve on the intake i dont remember the name of it now but that could cause the same thing to happen if it gets carbon built up in it.and it is a cheaper fix than my crank sensor ..id check that first

SOURCE: when i start my car it revs up to 2,000 rpm's

This is caused by a loose plate or plate retaining screw outside the throttle body. There is a mounting screw in the bottom of the throttle body that holds an adjustment plate. the screw ussually gets loose and needs to be retighten due to vacuum loss thru the head of that bold. It simply needs to be retighten. IT IS VERY HARD TO REACH THIS BOLT and does not have much room. Patience is a virtue here.

I have a 1994 1.5 litre Mitsubishi Lancer with a 12 valve engine. Located to the right of the rocker cover is the distributor and coil assembly. I have to replace the coil because the old one died. I can remove everything with ease except for a small spring loaded plate that appears to have been pressed onto the shaft. How can I remove that plate without damaging the shaft so that I can replace the coil?

SOURCE: 1998 ck2a lancer 4g15 no go. have replaced dizzy, computer and tps. has spark and injector pulse and timing is fine. any help appreciated

the next thing to check is the fuel system.
is there fuel in the system, the tank, fuel lines. is there fuel pressure at the injectors? check the fuel pump electrical system, the fuse, fuel pump relay, fuel cut off circuit. some factory security system have a fuel inhibitor, that disable the fuel pump circuit!

Start by verifying that the timing belt has not jumped a few teeth. You may also have a vacuum leak or poor fuel pressure. Undo the gas cap and see if the problem goes away. If it does, the fuel pump may be worn out.

could be a number of things so i'd start with a few basic checks , make sure the air intake pipes are in good condition and securely fitted and the air filter is clean, the vacuum hoses also need to be checked for condition and make sure they are pushed onto their connection as these can easily pop off,crank case vent to air filter/rocker covers must be clear remove and check as should have a wire filter that may be getting clogged with oil deposits etc ,if these are ok then i'd look at the fuel lines but would have noticed a leak by now,try a fuel addative as might just be a carbon build up somewhere along the combustion /exhaust process , follow the instructions carefully , i've found that when using these addatives it's a good idea, if possible, to go for a long drive maybe 100 miles at a highish speed so everything can get to the correct operating temp , is car mainly stop/start use keep me posted if you wish

i would double check all the grounds mice can reak havock on wires & jags need good grounds to run right kinda like a ford. try running an extra ground wire from batt to engine.

Return to idle

Sounds like your throttle is sticking, try looking under the hood for a cable that come out of the firewall. WD40
