Jason, unfortunately this is a common problem with this year model truck. I've replaced the driver and passenger door lock actuators on my '08 Silverado. If you are a DIY guy you can buy an actuator for around $120 and save the $100+ hourly rate the dealer will charge to do it. There are several good videos on YouTube that show how to remove the door panels with a few common tools. It's not difficult but can try your patience. Post any follow-up questions you may have.

SOURCE: power windows and door locks

it's not the girlfriend, it is the PDM, passanger door module, got mine a rock auto for 120.00, need to get the one specific for your VIN, not on most parts lists, it is a control board for all power windows and locks and the keyless entry. My cadillac was doing exsactly what your truck is doing. once you put the new one in you need to reprogram the remotes, not too hard, hold down lock button on drivers door, ignition on/off twice, let go of the door lock button, press both unlock, lock buttons and hold untill you hear the lock unlock. your program sequence might be slightlyl different check the web.
good luck.

SOURCE: no power to passenger door window or lock, drivers

I know this sounds strange but I believe the problem is in the drivers door. This is where the master switch is and controls the other doors. Have it tested or replaced. Hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: The left rear door lock

Hello: The lock/unlock unit is part of the mechanical door lock assembly. The first thing to do is remove the door panel. Check and make sure the linkages are all connected, then make sure the wires are properly connected to the door lock assembly. If all the previous is ok then you will need to replace the lock/unlock assembly. to do this you need to remove the mechanical lock assembly first then remove the actuator. It might be best to have a professional accomplish this task. You also should disconnect the actuator an check to make sure you have 12v going to the actuator when you activate the door lock switch.

2008 Silverado 3 doors will lock with remote. 4th door will not lock.

It could be a number of things. Stand at the door that is not working and operate the remote. Do you hear the actuator functioning. If not then you would have to see if there was power to the actuator and ground or just a bad part. Also see if it functions off of the main door switch.

Unlock a 2008 1500 Chevrolet Silverado Truck with a slim jim?

Slim Jims do not work very well. There is a new tool that is heavier than a hanger. You sneak it down between the door jam and door frame and either push the power door lock button or pull the unlock knob in the door panel to unlock the door.

Slim Jims won't work on the door. There is a tool called The BigEasy unlock tool. You sneak it between the jam and door frame and hook it on the lock knob and pull it to unlock the door or push the power lock button to unlock the door.

Unlock a 2008 Chevy Silverado

This year model truck WILL allow the truck to be locked if the key fob is left inside, but not while fully engaged in the ignition. If you do not have Onstar service you will have to use a long piece of thin metal, possibly a straightened clothes hanger and work it into the upper part of the driver or passenger side door at the top rear corner. Be careful not to tear the door seal. If it's long enough to reach the power door lock button press it to open the door. If not then fashion a small hook on the end and hook the manual door lock release. There is just enough of a lip to hook on to. Hope this helps.

I have a 2008 Chevy silverado with power locks and the driver side lock button is not working. It was previously only working for the passenger door but not the driver door, now is not working for either....

Its the switches themselves..sometimes you can disconnect the wires, then reconnect them and they might work..( I did this to mine..surprise - they worked.?.) If they do not work after reconnection.. its new switch time..

I have a 2008 chevy silverado crew cab and one of the door locks doesn't move

This is a very common problem on all chevy trucks for this year. The door lock solenoids are integrated into the door latch assembly, and are notoriously weak. They will work fine sometimes, others they just seem to barely move or not at all. You will need to replaced the door lock / latch assembly for the affected door.
